Our tennis writer previews the ATP Swiss Indoors which takes place from Monday 23 October – Sunday 29 October.

The ATP Tour is truly heating up as the season closes in on London and the majestic O2 Arena. Four players have already qualified for the season ending event. The Herculean efforts of Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal put them miles ahead of the chasing pack, while next generation superstars Alex Zverev and Dominic Thiem have also secured qualification.

Several players vying for their spots have opted for the picturesque setting of Vienna and the Erste Bank Open 500. Those include vanquished Stickholm Open finalist Grigor Dimitrov, as well as the likes of Sam Querrey, Kevin Anderson and Carreno Busta.

We preview the BNP Paribas WTA Finals taking place from Sunday 22 October – Sunday 29 October in Singapore.

The showpiece, year-ending WTA Event in Singapore is certainly a reflection of a year without the presence of Serena Williams. Seven of the eight players have the chance to end the year as World Number one, while all four Grand Slams were won by different women, indicating the schizophrenic nature of a season where consistency has been hard to locate amongst the tennis elite. Practically every single player on show has had a rollercoaster year, making the task of picking a potential winner all the more unenviable.
