Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Aldo DOMEYER - Trainer: Ronnie SHEEHAN

PRINCE LATERAL has shown ability from day one and he clearly relished the rise in distance, eleven days ago. He was having his first outing around the turn but he finished strongly for a close 3rd in open company over this c & d. The Lateral gelding was beaten just over one length in yielding going that day and is back against his own age group today. He has lots of scope further improvement and should be very competitive here.

Jockey: Bernard FAYD'HERBE - Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN

The Frenni formline could come to the fore in this maiden juvenile event for fillies, with MERITOCRACY and NOISETTE set to fight things out. Only half a length separated the pair, in favour of the latter over seven furlongs that day and both runners should relish the rise to the mile. The former came from way back to finish close-up that day and that experience around the bend would have brought her on. She is better drawn today and is a major contender.

Race 5: BOYES DRIVE(1)
Jockey: Karl NEISIUS - Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER

BOYES DRIVE is plagued with issues but he showed his raw ability and swift turn of foot to win his comeback run over this c & d, impressively four weeks ago. He accounted for many of today's rivals on that occasion and despite a six pound penalty, he still appears well handicapped against slightly weaker opposition. The Kannemeyer inmate was returning from a 32 week absence so should strip much fitter and he has lots of room for further improvement. He jumps from a good draw.

Jockey: Grant V/NIEKERK - Trainer: Greg ENNION

The three-year old gelding IRISH DYNASTY has turned his career around since going over ground. He beat a highly competitive field easily at handicap level over this c & d in his penultimate effort and then proved that was no fluke with a smart subsequent performance in the Winter Derby, also over this track and trip. The Dynasty gelding drops heavily in class and he should go very close with just 52.5kgs on his back. He is extremely well handicapped.

Race 6: MATIES WILDEKAT(4) (Each Way)
Jockey: Grant V/NIEKERK - Trainer: Mike BASS

The speedy sorts should ensure a cracking gallop and once again that could play into the hands of MATIES WILDEKAT. The Mike Bass inmate relished the speed when she ran on strongly for a close 2nd at conditions level over this c & d, four weeks ago. The daughter of Var is now back in handicap company and she can stake another serious claim on her third run after the layoff.
