Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Craig ZACKEY - Trainer: Corne SPIES

STAR PROFILE expectedly produced a smart last feature run over slightly shorter and she holds strong claims in this lesser class today. The daughter of Bold Silvano is a really smart type who will be at her best over ground but she has enough class to carry her through here.

Race 4: KNYSNA ROSE(2)
Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Joe SOMA

KNYSNA ROSE folded when she tried ten furlongs recently and hardly surprisingly, her conditioner has quickly dropped her in distance. The imported filly had promising form prior to that and the mile will be right up her alley today. She is her stable's only entrant on the card and top jockey Khumalo takes the ride.

Race 6: HONOLUA BAY(8)
Jockey: Muzi YENI - Trainer: Dianne STENGER

This is an extremely competitive handicap sprint where a very close finish is expected and the lightly weighted HONOLUA BAY can claim a deserved second career victory. The track specialist has been a model of consistency in recent attempts but may have just found the minimum trip too sharp for her nine days ago.

Race 8: PISTOLERO(12)
Jockey: Gunter WROGEMANN - Trainer: Paul MATCHETT

PISTOLERO runs well for today's jockey and the Ashaawes gelding has come back to form with some pleasing recent performances. He ran on well to get within two lengths of DRAGOON at Turffontein two weeks ago but is now 2.5kgs to the good and can reduce that deficit from his favourable draw. It must be noted that he was carded to race on 17/04 and is his yard's only runner on the day.

Jockey: Craig ZACKEY - Trainer: Brett WARREN

The day's topliner is a highly competitive six furlong handicap where the three-year olds could be worth following. SPORTING MONARCH has always indicated that he is above-average and he must be forgiven his last two disappointing performances when equipped with blinkers. Interestingly, he was gelded a mere three days later and finally makes his handicap debut, off a fast decreasing mark. The son of Rebel King has a solid c & d record and he jumps from a favourable draw.
