A-ROD has solid credentials and she was beaten by a decent type over this c & d last time out. Still, she had some fair sorts behind her that day, including Cosima (narrowly beaten next time out) and Arran Isles (good run subsequently). The Tarry inmate has her peak showing this evening and she gets the services of an in-form apprentice, fresh from a hat-trick of wins on the Highveld over the Easter weekend.
Race 4: UNDER THE ROSE(1)

There are quite a few form contenders in this open maiden contest but the collateral formline points to the in-form long time maiden UNDER THE ROSE. The well-tried three-year old finished runner-up in her last two starts on this course and her penultimate formline was given an almighty boost when her conqueror Ideal Duel beat some fair handicappers next time out. It is worth noting that she finished one length ahead of MPHUMI over this c & d last time out and now meets that rival on 2.5kgs better terms.
Race 5: ROCKEFELLER(2)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Charles LAIRD
Just eight handicappers head to post for this highly competitive low-key encounter where the three year old ROCKEFELLER looks set to defy the recent six pound penalty he picked up for thrashing subsequent winner Night Lock over this c & d. He was particularly impressive as he conceded a whopping 10kgs to the older rival. This race could be run to suit the chestnut gelding and top jockey Marcus retains the ride.
Race 6: CUDUIARI(3)
CUDUIARI seemed to be in need of his local debut over this c & d nine days ago and provided this run doesn’t come too soon, the Cape raider could make marked improvement here. He meets his conqueror NIGHT LOCK on 6.5kgs better terms for the 4.25 lengths defeat and he will strip fitter.

This is an intriguing maiden contest for many battling sorts and obvious caution is advised. The well- bred son of Western Winter, WESTERN OFFICER, has let the side down despite being fancied in many of his four starts to date but a good draw could make a telling difference for the Tarry inmate tonight. He does appear well held by FULL COUNT and TELEKINESIS on their last meeting over this c & d but may adopt different tactics tonight. There could be marked improvement to come from the bay gelding.
