Race 6
This looks to be a tricky race to open the day’s Jackpot with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. The tentative top pick goes to PANUARA BOY who raced just behind the leaders before finishing fifth last time out over 1200M, two lengths behind the winner and on that effort, he should enjoy the drop in trip. The gelding has his first run for his new trainer and if fully settled into his new surroundings, he should give a good account of himself here. He does face a wide draw eleven, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.
HARBOUR GOLD was returning from a 22-week rest and hung in down the home straight when finishing fifth in his latest outing over 1000M, just over three and a half lengths back from the winner. The gelding is drawn the widest of them all in gate fifteen, but he is a speedy sort who should be able to work his way across without using up too much gas.
GOLDEN DUBAI was hampered at the start and had to weave his way down the home straight, but still managed to put three lengths between himself and the opposition when winning his maiden race last time out over 1000M and was immediately rested for 16 weeks. He returns after finishing fourth in his only barrier trial and whilst taking on stronger here, he gets a handy draw two and could prove good enough to chalk up a quick double.
Race 7
The day’s value bet, ROCK ‘N’ REIGN was hampered at the start and then raced three wide without cover, but struck the front at the 100M pole for a well-timed victory by one length first time out over 1000M, so that effort was encouraging. He would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, he could be the one that they all have to beat, notwithstanding a wide gate nine. Two 3yr old fillies could chase him home, with the slight preference going to
TORNADO EXPRESS who won her maiden race over five furlongs by a neck at the third time of asking and the form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. She will have to overcome a wide draw twenty, but she has her peak run after returning from a 27-week break and she should be doing her best work late.
NYALI SANDS has consistent formlines to her name and followed up her penultimate run victory over 1300M with a fourth-place finish next time out over 1300M, one and a half lengths off the winner, but she raced three wide without cover in that event and was hampered just short of the winning post. The filly returns from a 31-week break, but has had two barrier trials, finishing second in both. From gate seven, she should turn in another honest performance here.
Race 8
NOT IN DOUBT is a 4-year-old filly taking on males, but she won her penultimate start over 1200M and then finished second next time out over the same c&d, two lengths adrift of the victor. She raced just behind the pace on that occasion and then stayed on well over the closing stages, suggesting that the extra distance of today’s race should not be an issue. She faces a wide draw thirteen, but her early pace might negate that.
HIT THE RIM finished well from some way back when ending up in fourth spot last time out over seven furlongs, just over two and a half lengths behind the winner. He on the other hand has a handy draw four and should be right up there when they hit the line.
MACLEAY jumped awkwardly when ending up in fourteenth place last time out over 1400M, just over five and a half lengths back from the winner. The gelding is drawn one outside the latter and will be having his first run for his new trainer. He will have 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice and if fully settled into his new surroundings, he should give a good account of himself here.
Race 9
VILLA TREVILLE goes for her hat-trick after two victories over 1000M, albeit the latest by just a head. She has her first run after a 42-week spell, but did finish second in her only barrier trial to showcase her well-being. The filly has a useful draw four and will have 3kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.
TORNADO EXPRESS finished strongly to win her maiden race over 1000M by a neck at the third time of asking and the form of that race has been franked. She will have to deal with a wide draw twelve, but she is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the latter part of the race. The filly will have her peak run after returning from a 27-week spell and could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice.
ANTISOCIAL has finished second in two of her last three runs, the latest over five furlongs by 0.8L, despite having to be eased at the 600M mark. She is drawn one outside the latter, but nevertheless, she should be involved in the finish.
