Chiefs aim for first league win against stubborn Rockets’ defence
Sead Ramović’s men are one of four teams who are yet to concede a goal in the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season, and deservedly so.
The departure of influential players like Tshegofatso Nyama, Melusi Buthelezi and Given Msimango has certainly given the likes of MacBeth Mahlangu and goalkeeper Vasilije Kolak a chance to prove themselves in defence, while Mbunjana has also relished the midfield role this season.
Msimango will know all about this Galaxy team, having been a part of and captained the squad since back in the days it was still known as Highlands Park (who sold their PSL status).
While he was on the opposite side when the teams last met in February last season (ending in a 0-0 draw), he now forms part of a new-look Kaizer Chefs backline, alongside Ditlhokwe, Frosler and Hlanti.
TS Galaxy’s Bernard Parker is another man who faces his former employers in this fixture, having spent 11 years playing for the Glamour Boys.
This encounter promises to be a stinger, and while Chiefs will come here as favourites, a first league win this season will not be easy to produce at the Mbombela Stadium.

Predicted Line-ups
UI have no doubt that the hosts will see an opportunity to steal maximum points here, with Kaizer Chiefs looking uncertain in the early stages of the new season, and that means Ramović will select his strongest available XI.
In goals, Kolak has been impressive and is yet concede this season. Surely he retains his spot.
Up top, Thamsanqa Gabuza will be trusted to bulldoze and bully the likes of Msimango and Ditlhokwe in the Chiefs defence.
For the Glamour Boys, the revelation that is Castillo will probably be among the first names on the team sheet – owing to his great displays since the start of the season.
Earlier in the week, coach Molefi Ntseki said that he plans to use frontman Ranga Chivaviro sparingly until he is ready. I think he starts this encounter as Chiefs will look to get on the score sheet early.
