Knife’s edge stuff as Sundowns meet Chiefs for a place in MTN8 final

It was honours even at the start of September at a sold-out FNB Stadium when Khuliso Mudau’s last-gasp equaliser broke Chiefs’ hearts. Sundowns and the Glamour Boys will renew hostilities on Saturday as they battle for a place in the MTN8 final.

The two come into this tie with contrasting form. Sundowns are seven from seven in the league seeing of Pirates at Orlando Stadium in their most recent fixture.

Chiefs, meanwhile, were condemned to their third defeat of the season against Gavin Hunt’s SuperSport United. The defeat would have packed extra sting with former Buccaneer Terrence Dzvukamanja scoring the only goal of the game.

Of course, we throw the formbook out of the window for ties like these. Sundowns, on paper as well as current form, should canter to victory here. Rulani Mokwena, however, will be wary of the threat posed by a Chiefs side with plenty to prove.
