UK Racing Best Bets – Wednesday 11 September

Jockeys ride horses

Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips from UK Racing at Doncaster and Carlisle on Wednesday 11 September.

Doncaster Best Bets

Race 1: LAMPANG (1)
Trainer: Tim Easterby
Jockey: Oisin Murphy

In a race that has cut up, LAMPANG can endorse the promise of his debut success at Carlisle and announce himself as a horse to follow. There was so much to like about that first foray onto the racecourse, as he was green and had a mountain to climb until picking up the bit and storming up the final hill to score going away. Importantly, the second horse Panic Room then bolted up at Haydock.

Race 4: ONE TO GO (16)
Trainer: Tim Easterby
Jockey: Brian Harding

The very nature of this ‘Legends’ race lends itself to ONE TO GO who is a strong traveller in a big field that can be held onto for a late charge. The runners are partnered by retired Flat and jump jockeys and Brian Harding is a good man for this horse. One To Go has been in good form and arguably a bit unlucky not to score at Beverley where his ride dropped his rein in the closing stages.

Carlisle Best Bets

Race 2: NAT LOVE (1)
Trainer: Mick Channon
Jockey: Graham Lee

Fully depressing of top weight in this nursery, NAT LOVE gained a deserved first career win in what turned out to be a penalty kick at Epsom. Buoyed by that facile success, he will not be inconvenienced by the drop back to a spring distance and is strongly fancied to follow up.

Race 3: KENNY THE CAPTAIN (9)
Trainer: Tim Easterby
Jockey: Rachel Richardson

This is the time of year we usually see the best of KENNY THE CAPTAIN who can’t have the ground soft enough. The eight-year-old operates well at this course and hinted with an eyecatching run at Thirsk that he’s on the cusp of a return to form, having spent much of the season operating out of his comfort zone.

Kempton Park Best Bets

Race 3: TURN TO ROCK (8)
Trainer: Ed Walker
Jockey: Liam Keniry

Handicap debutant TURN TO ROCK is a fascinating contender for this Class 5 following his eyecatching effort in a maiden here. That strong finishing second to Eardley Road was achieved over six furlongs and this step up to seven should benefit him. Furthermore, he has a good draw in five from which to get a position.

Race 7: FANTASY JUSTIFIER (14)
Trainer: Ron Harris
Jockey: David Probert

Breaking from the rail in a field of 14 is a big advantage for FANTASY JUSTIFIER who will nevertheless require luck in running in the home straight. Getting weight from everything else, he should be a danger to all if not too far off the pace at the business end as he is a strong stayer and currently in the form of his life.

Uttoxester Best Bets

Race 4: THE VOLLAN (6)
Trainer: Charlie Longsdon
Jockey: Aidan Coleman

Since scoring on his first run of the year THE VOLLAN has played the bridesmaid role on three occasions and now needs to overturn Worcester placings with Doubly Clever who beat him a length and a half when getting 7lbs. On revised terms The Vollan receives 9lbs from his penalised rival and his consistency should stand him in good stead.
