Bafana Bafana are set to touch down on Wednesday, prompting a reshuffling of the local football calendar.

Originally, five fixtures were slated for Tuesday, followed by three more on Wednesday, putting 20 domestic players from Hugo Broos’ squad at risk of missing the action.

With Bafana only arriving in the early hours of Wednesday morning, the PSL has opted to resume the DStv Premiership action on Friday, featuring an exciting clash between SuperSport United and Sekhukhune United – while the rest of the rescheduled fixtures will take place on Saturday and Sunday.

The affected matches include encounters like Orlando Pirates against Chippa United, Kaizer Chiefs facing TS Galaxy, and Golden Arrows at Mamelodi Sundowns, among others.

The PSL issued a statement, explaining, “Following receipt of communication indicating that Bafana Bafana will only return to South Africa from their successful AFCON trip on Wednesday, 14 February 2024, the Premier Soccer League has decided to postpone all DStv Premiership fixtures originally scheduled for midweek (13 and 14 February 2024).

The rescheduled dates for these matches will be communicated in due course.”

Football enthusiasts can now anticipate an action-packed weekend as the league adjusts to the positive form of delay surrounding Bafana Bafana’s homecoming.
