Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa has praised the support received from teammates and reveals the mentality he has adopted to win the prestigious PSL Golden Boot award.
Mabasa started the recent DStv Premiership season on loan at Moroka Swallows where he scored six goals for the Dube Birds.
After his blistering start, Prates recalled the striker from his loan spell, where he scored 10 goals in 13 matches, which saw him walk away with the Golden Boot with 16 goals in total.
The 27-year-old reveals his teammates’ support as a major factor behind his success.
“I started elsewhere (Swallows) at the beginning of the season, but one thing that didn’t change for me this season is the sort of mentality that I’ve had,” Mabasa explained.
“The confidence that I have had at the beginning of the season, I think has helped me to achieve the things that I have achieved during the course of the season as well.
“And obviously the support that I have been getting where I was at Swallows or I was here (Pirates).
“The support that I have been getting from my fellow teammates has been amazing and I’m really grateful for everything they have done for me throughout this campaign so far,” Mabasa concluded.
Mabasa is the fourth Buccaneers player to win the PSL Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot award in the club’s history after Dennis Lota, the late Lesley Manyathela, and Gabadinho Mhango.
