New SuperSport United signing Vincent Pule is set to be one of the key players in Matsatsantsa a Pitori’s hunt for success this season.
This is the view of SuperSport’s assistant coach Andre Arendse following an impressive debut by the former Orlando Pirates forward in the MTN8 quarterfinals.
Pule scored against his former club as the Tshwane side tried to put up a fight during their 3-1 defeat in extra time at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
“He is a player you will have in your team, any day,” Arendse told the media after the game.
“He has worked with Gavin (Hunt, head coach) and myself before (at Bidvest Wits).”
Pule, 32, spent four years at Wits and helped to win their first league title and only league tile and other trophies.
He left them for the Sea Robbers in 2018 also had a successful stint, winning several trophies but couldn’t win the league.
Arendse remains upbeat Pule can still deliver, and they hope it will be in the upcoming season.
“We know what he is capable of, despite his age which is still young, we have seen what he can do in pre-season, especially in games,” Arendse said.
“We have worked him in different positions around the team. Today, he offered us a more attacking (option) firstly out in wider areas.
“And we brought him to play closely to Bradley (Grobler) when Bradley was still on the field.
“He (Pule) gives you that support and he has goals in him. My hats off to him for being so respectful for scoring against his club, which is the right thing to do.
“I think we are going to have a very good season ahead with a player like that.”
