The 30-year-old Kenya international was released by the Brazilians following the completion of his contract, at the end of last season.

An ex Santos and Maritzburg United centre-back, Onyango is said to have been snapped up by an ambitious Stellies on a two-year contract.

According to iDiski Times: “After leaving Maritzburg United, Onyango signed for Masandawana in 2020 but was used sparingly during his four-year stay.

“After his exit at Sundowns, he wasted no time looking for another opportunity and he initially trained with SuperSport United for several weeks before the club decided against signing him.

“iDiski Times has now been reliably informed that Stellies completed the signing of Onyango on a two-year contract.”

Stellenbosch are busy competing in the CAF Confederation Cup where they lead Nsingizini Hotspurs 3-0 from the first leg.
