Soukouna, 32, is no stranger to South African football, having previously played for Maritzburg United (now Durban City) in 2021 before joining Bangkok United in Thailand.

Tinkler believes that Soukouna will bring significant value to the Citizens, filling the gap left by Mayo.

However, the coach admitted his disappointment that the deal was not completed earlier, suggesting that the club would have benefited from having the striker on board sooner. Despite this, Tinkler remains optimistic about Soukouna’s impact on the team going forward.

“He has a lot of quality (Amadou Soukouna) we forget that this guy played for U17 of the French national team,” Tinkler said.

“He has a lot of qualities as a player. When he was at Maritzburg (United) I was highly impressed with him. His ability, his comfortable on the ball.

“He’s got strength, he’s got speed, and he can shoot. His free kicks are really good.

“So, I think he is a strong element to our team and it’s a bit we couldn’t get him earlier.

“But unfortunately, he was not allowed in the country at the time, now we’ve managed to resolve that. He is a good professional, hard-working, and he has fitted immediately (in the team),” the 54-year-old explained.

John Comitis, the chairman of the club, has stated the interest in bringing Kermit Erasmus back to the team, as part of efforts to strengthen the squad. However, the decision ultimately rests with the coach, who will make the final call regarding the potential signing of the player.
