RACE 1
BIG LUCK CHAMP was only beaten a couple of lengths by First Responder on debut. That form looks strong enough to win a race of this nature and with the expected natural improvement he should take a power of beating in the opening contest. MONKEY JEWELLERY is much better than his last start. He raced three wide on that occasion and then steadily dropped out of the race. He has the ability to pose a threat to the top selection. NOBLE DESIRE was only beaten 2.25L in his comeback effort. He shoulders just 52.5kgs and must be considered in the opening race.
RACE 2
BELUGA is the best bet on the card. He is clearly up on the grade and despite being slightly outpaced in his last effort, he would have come on leaps with that run under the belt. He is drawn in pole position and despite shouldering top weight he should be difficult to peg back in the closing stages of the second race. SOLAR POWER found one better in the form of Charge On in his comeback effort. He was narrowly beaten by a neck that day and if coming on from that effort he should be able to challenge for top honours. STUNNING MASTER finished 4L behind Regency Master last time out who has won again since. If he returns fit to the races then he must be considered for minor money.
RACE 3
FORTUNE MASTER produced a typical second run after a rest last time out. The run that catches the eye is his comeback effort when only beaten 1.3L at the wire by Bright Kid. He looks fairly handicapped in this contest and if putting his best foot forward he should be right there at the business end of affairs. MIGHTY VALOR races well fresh. He was only beaten 1.2L by Vigor Champ in his last start and the break may have done him the world of good. WINNING STRIKES is at long-odds but he finished first in a recent barrier trial and must be respected.
RACE 4
YES WE CAN wasn’t disgraced in his comeback effort. He was only beaten 3L by Plikclone and he shoulders the same weight today. He went close in his only start last season which suggests that a win is on the horizon. SMART THINKER made late progress last time out when finishing in the money. He finished 1.3L behind Apollos Bow and it is encouraging that Zac Purton has kept faith in the ride. SHINEALOT was only beaten a length in his comeback effort. He went close in his penultimate run and if repeating that type of effort then he can run into the money.
RACE 5
GOLDEN FOUR has finished well in his last three starts to date. He was beaten by a neck in the shadow of the post last time out by Go Goal Toby. He gets a 4.5kgs apprentice allowance which brings him right into the race and he must represent decent each-way value for Hong Kong racing pundits. LUCKY QUALITY has placed in both his outings this season. He finished runner-up behind Hercules last time and on form looks an obvious danger in the race. CASIMIRO showed signs of needing his comeback run when beaten a couple of lengths by Armor Star. He will strip a much fitter horse today and must be respected from his inside barrier position.
RACE 6
NATURAL STORM finished third in his first run after the rest. He was only beaten 1.5L that day and should absolutely relish stepping up to the nine-furlong trip. He is a natural frontrunner that should prove tough to peg back in the closing stages of this contest. FAMILY LEADER finished a couple of lengths behind the top selection last season when they met. He is coming off an impressive victory on this track and could find himself making it back-to-back wins. CROWN AVENUE ran into the places last time out when beaten by Chung Wah Spirit. If repeating that type of effort then he can run into the money again.
RACE 7
ALL FOR SOUTH is highly unexposed. He won all three of his starts in Australia last season. He has his first run in Hong Kong and his credentials need to be respected. CZARSON has finished runner-up in his last two starts. He was beaten by the narrowest of margins in his last start and he will benefit from a 1kg apprentice allowance in this contest. Zac Purton takes over from the suspended Karis Teetan on SUNSET WATCH who will benefit from a decent pace in the race. He was only beaten 0.5L last time by Winning Dreamer and should be mowing down the frontrunners in the run down to the line.
RACE 8
CLASSIC POSH was only narrowly beaten a neck by Scores Of Fun in his comeback run. He shoulders just 50.5kgs and with that natural improvement that is expected, he should go close to winning the eighth race. PING HAI BRAVO finished right behind Sunset Watch who competes in Race 7 (Watch form line). He looks fairly handicapped and shouldn’t be underestimated in this very competitive event. TELECOM FIGHTERS has his first run in Hong Kong. He may be in need of the run but he brings some solid credentials into the race and could be competitive.
RACE 9
KA YING EXCELLENT returns from the paddock today. He finished off his season well when only beaten 1.5L by Amazing Chocolate on this track. He jumps from an inside barrier and if returning fit then he can find himself in the winners’ box. STAR OF YUEN LONG looks destined for bigger plans. He will have to win a race of this nature to upgrade and should be up to the task at hand. VICTORY POWER has finished third in his last two outings. He finished 2L behind progressive sort California Rad and he can run into the money again.
RACE 10
CALIFORNIA RAD has ultra-consistent form to his credit. He was making late progress last time out when beat 1.5L by Amazing Star. He races in the same class with similar conditions and still a talent on the rise. He beat Hardly Swears who has recently finished third and just looks difficult to oppose on paper. WINNING METHOD is 2kgs better off with LUCKY EXPRESS for his recent narrow defeat. That should be enough to turn the tables and he may be able to pick up the pieces should the top selection fluff his lines. GOODLUCK FRIEND finished right behind WINNING METHOD last time out and he brings some really attractive form into the lucky last race.
