Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 3: EKTIFAA(7)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

EKTIFAA
produced some decent juvenile form last campaign and she would have strengthened during her long absence. She went down narrowly over this trip last time and she in turn, finished just under nine lengths in front of subsequent winner Trip Queens. The daughter of More Than Ready has obvious scope for improvement and she could prove tough to beat on her seasonal debut, if she handles this track.

Top Bet
Race 4: HALLUCINATION(8)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Michael AZZIE

The well-related HALLUCINATION made a decent debut in a strong field over this trip at Turffontein a fortnight ago. She drifted in the betting market after being initially fancied and despite overracing, the daughter of Visionaire stayed on well for 3rd, beaten just over two lengths at the line. She is clearly above-average and would have come on with that effort. The Mike Azzie inmate is well drawn at gate 2 on her track debut and she should go very close with Delpech retaining the ride.

Race 5: QUERARI VIKING(1)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Michael AZZIE

The much-talked about QUERARI VIKING is above-average and he expectedly bounced back to best in his infamous last outing. Of course, he was well-timed when keeping going to beat the promoted first-timer Nordic Storm over this distance at Turffontein. It is very interesting that he was subsequently purchased by the winning connections of the promoted runner and now makes his debut for the Mike Azzie yard, who themselves benefitted from the frivolous objection. The son of Querari should quickly make amends though and he will continue to progress. He has his peak showing and jumps from a good draw with Delpech in the irons.

Race 7: EFFORTLESS REWARD(1)
Jockey: Gunter WROGEMANN – Trainer: Louis GOOSEN

The very fast EFFORTLESS REWARD lived up to her name when she thrashed male rivals en route to a super impressive debut victory over this distance in June. The imported bay filly was heavily backed that day and she is obviously highly regarded by her conditioner who saddles just this entrant on the day. The daughter of Reward For Effort would have strengthened during the 14-week absence and she could have a bright future. She concedes chunks of weight all around on her handicap debut but must be followed with confidence.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 2: HOLLIE POINT(1)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA – Trainer: Alec LAIRD

There are some classy fillies on display in this graduation contest and an exciting finish is on the cards. The four-year-old HOLLIE POINT’s form proves that she is way above-average and she wasn’t disgraced when poorly drawn on her seasonal debut in a feature over this trip, three weeks ago. She was returning from a 12-week absence but finished well for 4th, beaten 2.50 lengths by the promising three-year-old filly MYFUNNYVALENTINE (2kgs worse off). The Alec Laird inmate still has some work to do to reverse the formline but she should be fitter and may prefer racing down the straight. Top jockey Gavin Lerena retains the ride on the daughter of Silvano.
