International Racing: Albany – Monday 27 April 2020

A small but competitive seven-race programme is scheduled for Albany on Monday. The best bet comes in Race 5 in the form of CHASING CHAOS. He has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings and meets the right field this afternoon. He gets the services of a claiming apprentice and should be hard to beat.

Race 1
CALLING CARD produced a promising debut effort when finishing third over the minimum trip on this course. He was running on well up the home straight and will enjoy the extra distance on offer this afternoon. The son of War Chant would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the one they all have to beat. RUSTY RIVITS produced a decent debut effort when finishing fourth over 1100m on this course. He was his own worst enemy that day as he hung badly up the straight. It must be noted that two horses from that form line have come out and won since. With the natural progression that is expected, he should be the one to pose the biggest threat to the top choice.

Race 2
MR PAGO took on stronger company in his last start over this course and distance. He raced from a handy position that day but was his own worst enemy as he never settled in the early stages. He loves racing on this course with a record of six wins, six seconds and six third-place finishes from 27 outings. The son of Magnus drops back in class this afternoon and he should take a power of beating on best form. TAKE ME HOME HONEY is a filly taking on the males and she is a winner of her last two starts on this course. She tries the extra distance for the first time today, but the manner in which she races suggests this trip should be right up her alley. Kyra Yuill has ridden her to victory in her last two races and the pair will be looking to notch up the hat-trick today.

Race 3
SIR SNUGALOT has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He has a decent record this season having won once, finished second once and third twice from eleven outings. Brodie Kirby has a decent 21%-win strike rate for this trainer. The son of Oratorio should be the one to side within this field. REALISE POTENTIAL is much better than his last start over six furlongs on this course. He has won once, finished second twice and third twice from six attempts over this distance. Alan Kennedy steps into the saddle today and the pair should be right there in the run down to the finishing post.

Race 4
MYGIRLFRANKIE has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. She ran a very good race when finishing second over this course and distance in her last start. Brodie Kirby has a fair record aboard the daughter of Myboycharlie and the combination should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure here. TRIGGERFISH is the stable companion of the top selection and he too has not finished too far off the winner in recent runs. He has a decent record on this course having won once, finished second three times and third twice from eight outings. He is likely to race on the speed this afternoon and may be hard to peg back in the closing stages.

Race 5
CHASING CHAOS has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He raced from a handy position in his last start and stayed on well at the business end of the race. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He gets the services of a 1.5kg claiming apprentice this afternoon and should be the one they all have to beat in this field. COLD AS COLD is the stable companion of the top selection. His last two starts over six furlongs have been good. He has won three times, finished second twice and third twice from twelve outings on this course. If seeing out the extra distance on offer today, he should be one of the leading contenders for the placings.

Race 6
LITTLE PUNGA got back to winning ways in his last start over six furlongs on this course. He has won four times, finished second five times and third twice from 23 outings on this track. He runs well for today’s apprentice jockey and the pair should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure. WILLOW RIVER is a filly taking on the males. She won her last start well over this course and distance. She has won three times and finished third once from six attempts over this distance. It is encouraging that Alan Kennedy does duty and the pair should be the ones to throw out the biggest challenge to the top selection.

Race 7
SPICULUS ran a very good race over 1100m on this course last time. He set the pace that day but was picked off late in the race. It is encouraging that Alan Kennedy retains the ride and the pair may be hard to peg back in the closing stages. DANEHILL STORM was disappointing in his last start after winning his penultimate race over this course and distance. He runs well for today’s jockey Jerry Noske having won once and finishing second on five occasions from eight starts. Should the top selection fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
