A very competitive eight-race programme is scheduled for Pinjarra on Thursday. The best bet is VICTORY SHOT who runs in Race 3. She has produced three good efforts thus far and meets the right field this afternoon. She looks very tough to beat.

Race 1
REAL GRACE produced a fair debut effort when finishing just over six lengths behind the winner. She understandably raced very green that day and would have come on with the experience under her belt. It is encouraging that jockey William Pike does duty as he has a 34%-win strike rate with the Grant & Alana Williams stable. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should be right there in the run down to the finishing post. VITAL TIMES made a promising debut when finishing third over 1100m at Ascot. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. With the natural progression that is expected, she should be the one to throw out the biggest challenge to the top choice.

Race 2
ANGELIC MISS is an unraced daughter of Savabeel from the Simon Miller yard. She has had two very good barrier trials coming into this race. William Pike has struck up a good partnership with this trainer with a win strike rate of 34%. The betting will be the best guide with regards to the chances of this filly. JAKESTAR is yet to finish out of the first three placings in six starts. He ran a good race last time when finishing third over the minimum trip at Ascot. It is interesting that William Pike who rode him last time has opted to ride the top selection. However, on form, the son of Universal Ruler merits healthy respect.

Race 3
VICTORY SHOT is the best bet on today’s card and looks very tough to beat. She raced from a handy position in her last start over six furlongs and stayed on well at the business end of the race. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She has drawn pole position and should race on the speed. The daughter of Shooting To Win may be hard to peg back in the closing stages. KAZKAZI showed good signs of a form return in his last start when finishing second over this course and distance. He is having his peak run this afternoon and should be cherry-ripe. Joseph Azzopardi retains the ride and the pair should be right there in the run down to the finishing post.

Race 4
SON OF THE SUN is still a maiden after 15 outings, but he has not finished too far behind the winner in recent starts. He has a fair record on this course with two third place finishes from four outings. If repeating his penultimate run over seven furlongs on this course, he may be the one to beat. GALAGA has fair recent form to his name. He ran his best race of his career last time when finishing fourth, just 0.4 lengths behind the winner. That effort was over today’s course and distance. If repeating that run, he should be the one to throw out the biggest challenge to the top choice.

Race 5
LICKETY SPLIT is a winner of his last two starts over six furlongs at Albany. His record over this distance is good with three wins, two seconds and a third-place finish from twelve attempts. Alan Kennedy who was aboard the son of Magnus in his last two starts retains the ride and the pair could notch up the hat-trick. I’M PRETTY is a filly taking on the males. She won her last start over this course and distance. She runs well on this track with a record of a win, two seconds and two third-place finishes from six outings. William Pike who has won on this daughter of Dash For Cash does duty and the pair merit healthy respect.

Race 6
WILD FRONT was just beaten into third in his last two starts at Ascot under today’s pilot. He has a fair record over today’s distance with a win and three third-place finishes from eight attempts. He is having his peak run this afternoon and should be cherry-ripe. The son of War Chant should be the one to side with here. SIRIUS MAGIC is lightly raced having had just the three runs to date. He was a winner on debut and followed that up with two fair runs. He is returning from an 18-week break today but should have no concerns with regards to fitness as he has had a decent barrier trial coming into this race. Should the top selection fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

Race 7
PLAYING RED was an impressive winner on debut over this course and distance. She settled mid-field that day and got up where it matters most. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She would have come on with the experience under her belt. She does take on stronger today, but she could be anything and may be up to the task at hand. It is encouraging that jockey William Pike has kept faith in the ride. LIL’ RED BIKINI has come back to form in her last two starts. She has finished second in both her efforts over this course and distance. Jockey Ryan Hill knows her well and the pair may be the ones to pick up the pieces should the top selection fluff her lines.

Race 8
JADAVI is the value bet on today’s card. She showed a glimpse of returning to best form in her last start over a mile on this course. She gets the services of a 3kg claiming apprentice this afternoon and that may be what she needs. She could be the one to cause the upset. DARING SOLEIL has not got the most consistent form, but on best form shown, she must have a say. Her effort on 22 January when finishing third over seven furlongs at Ascot was eye-catching. If she repeats that run, she could be the one to throw out the biggest challenge to the top selection. Clint Johnston-Porter retains the ride and he would have learned a lot from riding her last time.
