Racing is back at Happy Valley on Wednesday where a competitive nine-race programme is scheduled. The best bet on the night is HAPPY GOOD GUYS in Race 4. He was an impressive winner over this course and distance in his last start. Vincent Ho retains the ride and the pair look hard to beat. Joao Moreira has now pulled four winners clear of Zac Purton in the Jockey’s Championship. Both jockeys have a full book of rides and must be closely followed on each mount.

Race 1
HUMBLE STEED is the value bet on tonight’s card. He has shown that he is slowly returning to best form in his last two starts. He raced three wide over seven furlongs last time, but boxed on well up the straight. He tries the 1650m for the first time tonight and the manner in which he finished off his race last time suggests that he will enjoy the rise in trip. Karis Teetan rides from a good draw and the pair merit healthy respect. NITRO EXPRESS is much better than his last two starts suggest. He takes a drop-in class this evening and on best form shown, should pose a threat to the top selection. VIRTUS STAR’S last two starts have been good. He was taken back early last time and rallied well up the straight. Zac Purton retains the ride aboard the son of Sebring and the pair should be mowing down the frontrunners in the run down to the wire. GALAXY RACER’S last three starts have been good. He has finished third on both attempts over this distance and with Joao Moreira doing duty, he merits obvious inclusion.

Race 2
YEE CHEONG PEGASUS has top recent form to his credit. He raced from a handy position last time and stayed on well at the finish over this distance. Chad Schofield retains the ride and if continuing his good run of form, he may be the one to beat here. MONKEY JEWELLERY has fair recent form to his name. He has been taking on stronger opposition and drops back in class tonight. He runs well for Joao Moreira with a record of two wins and two second place finishes from seven outings. He should have the early gate speed to overcome the draw with ease and should the top selection fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces. LADY FIRST has shown signs of returning to best form in his last two starts. He was bumped at the start last time but finished his race off well. Karis Teetan does duty and the pair should be mowing down the frontrunners from his wide barrier position. COMPASSION SPIRIT ran a very good race last time despite the fact that he had to race four wide. He has a handy draw tonight and with a bit of luck in running, he should be right there in the run down to the finishing post.

Race 3
TRIUMPHANT HORSE made eye-catching late progress when finishing three lengths off the winner in his last start over this course and distance. He has finally cracked a good barrier position of four and with Joao Moreira retaining the ride, he looks to be the one to side with here. TUNG WAH GLORY showed good improvement to win his last start over seven furlongs at Sha Tin. Despite racing three wide, he rallied well under a strong ride by Zac Purton. If repeating that effort, he should be the one to throw out the biggest challenge to the top choice. METHANE’S last three starts have been good. He should have finished closer in his last start as he was bumped at the 200m mark. He has won once and finished second once in three starts over this distance. With a bit of luck in running, he should be right there at the business end. COURAGEOUS DRAGON is showing good signs of returning to best form in his last three starts. He stayed on well at the finish of his last start over seven furlongs and should enjoy the rise in distance today. Karis Teetan stays aboard the son of Pins and the pair cannot be ignored.

Race 4
HAPPY GOOD GUYS got back to winning ways over this course and distance last time. Despite getting off to an awkward start, he took the lead at the 70m mark and drew off well. He is likely to race with the early speed from his good draw and may be hard to peg back in the closing stages. It is encouraging that Vincent Ho retains the ride aboard the son of Zoustar. SHANGHAI MASTER is slowly returning to best form. The manner in which he ran on last time was very good. Zac Purton has finished second on him once before and the pair merit healthy respect. VICTORY MASTERY is not the most consistent sort. He didn’t get off to the best of beginnings last time but finished his race off well. He does have a wide draw to contend with tonight, but he gets the services of Joao Moreira who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle. OVERSUBSCRIBED has not finished too far behind the winner in recent outings. He gets the services of claiming apprentice Matthew Poon and the pair must be included in all bets.

Race 5
SUPER LUCKY was rewarded for consistency when winning his last start over this course and distance. Despite getting hampered at the 300m mark, he got up where it matters most. Neil Callan knows the son of Myboycharlie well and the pair have a good chance of notching up a quick double. SUPER WINNER has not finished too far behind the winner in recent outings. He took over the lead at the 600m mark last time and kept on well at the business end of the race. Joao Moreira does duty from a handy barrier position and the pair should pose a threat to the top choice. CALIFORNIA RAD’S last start can be ignored as he was reported to be lame. He produced three good runs prior to that effort and on best form shown, he should be right there in the run down to the finishing post. EXCEPTIONAL DESIRE raced from a handy position last time and stayed on well for the victory. He gets the services of a claiming apprentice tonight and if repeating his latest effort, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 6
SHOUSON was an easy winner of his last start over this course and distance. He runs well for tonight’s jockey Zac Purton with a record of three wins and a third-place finish from five starts. The pair should take a power of beating in this field. BEAUTY SPARK has finished third in his last five starts. He was hampered at the 550m mark last time but kept on well at the business end of the race. He has finished third five times from eight attempts over this distance. From his good draw of four, he may be right there in the run down to the finishing post. CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT is lightly raced having only had the three runs to date. He set the early pace in his last start and kept on well at the business end. Joao Moreira rides him for the first time, and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of the son of Deep Field, where it matters most. VICTORY IN HAND’S last two starts were decent. He set the pace last time but was caught in the final 150m of the race. From his good draw of two, he is likely to adopt the same tactics and may be hard to peg back in the closing stages.

Race 7
ALPHA HEDGE came back to his best when winning his last start over this course and distance. He finished his race off very well. He has a very good record on this course having won twice and finishing second twice from five outings. Vincent Ho knows the son of Sir Prancealot well and the pair should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure. HEAVENLY THOUGHT has very good recent form to his credit. He raced handy last time but did it the hard way as he raced three-wide. Joao Moreira is yet to be unplaced on this son of So You Think and from a good draw of two, the pair should pose a big threat to the top choice. JOLLY HONOUR ran on well to win his last start over this course and distance. He is drawn in pole position today and with Zac Purton retaining the ride, he should be right there in the run down to the finishing post. REEL BIZZY is slowly coming back to best form. He was his own worst enemy last time as he did not settle in the early stages. If Hamelin is able to switch the son of Kodiac off early, he may be involved in the finish.

Race 8
ISLAND SHINE showed very good signs of returning to best form in his last start over this course and distance. He raced from a handy position and stayed on well at the business end of the race. Zac Purton rides for the first time and he may be able to get that little bit extra out of the son of Darci Brahma where it matters most. CONFUCIUS DAY has decent consistent formlines to his credit. He set the pace under tonight’s apprentice Vincent Wong but was outrun in the late stages last time. He may have his own way in front once again and could be hard to peg back in the closing stages. WINNING METHOD returned to winning ways in his last start over this course and distance. Matthew Chadwick who got the best out of him last time retains the ride and the pair should be right there in the run down to the finishing post. TELECOM PUMA is much better than his recent form suggests. He continues to drop in the ratings and from a good draw of two, he may be the one to cause the upset.

Race 9
HELENE CHARISMA is returning to best form. He should have finished much closer in his last start, but he was awkward out the gates and hampered at the 400m mark and 300m mark. Blake Shinn steps back into the saddle tonight and with a bit of luck in running, he may be the one they all have to beat. ENRICHMENT has finished runner-up in his last two starts. He stayed on well at the business end of his last race over ten furlongs. He runs well for tonight’s jockey Joao Moreira as he has won once and finished second once from as many starts. If overcoming his wide barrier position, he should be right there at the finish. HIGH REV made eye-catching late progress when finishing third last time. He has finished third in three of his four attempts over this distance and merits healthy respect. DANCES WITH DRAGON should have finished closer last time as he was blocked at the 300m mark. Zac Purton who won on him in his penultimate start, steps back into the saddle and the pair cannot be ignored.
