Race 5

This looks to be a tricky start to the day’s Jackpot, so some caution is suggested. JAZIRAT is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she had finished second in her two runs over further prior to winning her last start over a mile by 1.3L when returning from a 13-week rest. She was bumped and carried wide entering the home straight that day, which makes the victory that much more encouraging. She jumps from a handy gate two and could be the one to side within this line-up.

MAGIC CHARLEE followed up his penultimate run victory over a mile with a ninth-place finish next time out over seven furlongs, just over three and a half lengths behind the winner. He was staying on well after having to be steadied at the 1200M mark. He has gate seven and should be right up there when they hit the line.

DEEPWOOD VALE is another 4yr old filly in the race and drops in distance after finishing seventh in her latest outing over 2100M, five lengths adrift of the winner. She likes to sit up with the pace and from her wide gate eighteen, she should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy

Race 6

CHAREADY has consistent formlines to his name, winning his penultimate start over 1300M and then finishing second in his last outing over six furlongs, 1.3L back from the winner. He was making good late progress in that contest and despite have a wide draw twelve out of fourteen, he should be doing his best work late to record another honest performance.

SIR BAWN is drawn one inside the top choice and had his consistency rewarded with his maiden victory last time out over seven furlongs when putting 4.3L between himself and the opposition, this despite coming five wide into the straight. He hit the front at the 150M pole and from then on, the result was never in doubt. He takes on stronger here, but he may well be up to the task at hand.

SANCTA is a 3yr old filly taking on males, but she won her penultimate start over six furlongs and then finished third over the same trip next time out, five lengths adrift of the victor. It should however be noted that she had to be held up at the top of the straight, but then finished off her race strongly. She has a far kinder draw two and will have 1.5lgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice to aid her cause.

Race 7

Today’s best bet, IMPULSE CONTROL is a 3yr old filly taking on boys, but she is seldom far off the action and finished fourth in her latest outing over six furlongs, just under two lengths behind the winner in a Class 1 Handicap race. She came five wide into the home stretch that day but still stayed on well over the latter stages. She has her peak run after returning from a 16-week break and has a cosy draw three. In addition, she will have 1.5kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice.

DANZA IN THE DARK galloped to the head of affairs as the field entered the home straight and then went on to fight off all the late challengers to win his last start over seven furlongs by a head. He jumps from gate seven and could emerge as the biggest threat to the top pick.

WE ALL AGREE has cracked pole position and although recorded as finishing eighth last time out over six furlongs, he was only 2.7L behind the winner. He jumped awkwardly and was crowded shortly after the start that day and then to make matters even worse, he came three-wide into the straight. Under the circumstance, that was not a bad effort and he should be involved in the finish here.

Race 8

Two 3yr old fillies could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but with the late scratching of one of her main rivals, the door may have opened for today’s value bet, BELROSE EXPRESS to chalk up her second career victory. She has made steady improvement in her last four runs, culminating with a head victory last time out over five furlongs when returning from a 20-week absence and the form of that race has been franked. She gets gate three and will have 1.5kgs taken off her back for the services of her claiming apprentice.

LADY RIVER had finished third in her two runs prior to winning her maiden race last time out over this c&d by a length when returning from a shorter 16-week break. She kicked clear of the field at the 200M mark that day and on that last effort, she could prove good enough to seal a quick double, notwithstanding a wideish draw seven.

AYTOBE finished fourth in his last start over five furlongs, two lengths off the winner and was immediately rested for 19 weeks. He returns here without having had the benefit of a barrier trial, so his fitness will have to be taken on trust and he faces an even wider draw fourteen, but on the plus side, he will get 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice. he should be included in all bets.
