She raced from a handy position over 1600m at Turffontein last time, tried hard all the way to the line but found one too good in the form of Thunder Shower. The daughter of Var is a progressive type and will enjoy the extra distance on offer. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and the combination should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.

CLARKSON stayed on nicely at the finish in his last start over 2000m, but found one too good in the form of Constantia Haze. The son of Ato should have no issues with the drop to 1700m and will be at peak fitness. From his good draw of four, he can shed his maiden tag.

UNDER YOUR SPELL has top consistent form lines to her credit. She raced from a handy position in the Grade 2 Joburg Spring F & M Challenge, but found one too good in the form of Big Burn. She returns from a 10-week break, which may have done her the world of good. She is unbeaten from two starts over this trip and should keep that record intact.

WHAT A HONEY is the best bet on the card. She produced a very good comeback run, finishing second over 1000m on this course. She was bumped at the start, but the manner in which she finished off her race was eye-catching. The daughter of What A Winter will love the extra furlong on offer and should strip a much fitter horse. She looks progressive and in this type of field, should take a power of beating.

SPANISH BOY was running on too late in his last start over 1000m on the Turffontein Inside course. He finished third in the 2020 Grand Heritage with 53kgs on his back. The son of Silvano has had the perfect preparation heading into this contest and with Muzi Yeni retaining the ride, he should be the one to beat.
