Desh Parthab looks DStv Premiership stats you should take note of before placing your bets ahead of the weekend fixtures!
Last week’s round of fixtures churned out some impressive results! Khanyisa Mayo scored a free-kick to hand Cape Town City just their 2nd away league victory this campaign.
Chippa United would have felt hard done by at the full-time whistle, as they let a 2-0 lead slip to come away with a draw against Royal AM. No doubt they would see that as 2 points dropped – which certainly doesn’t bode well in their bid to avoid the drop. With that being said, I took a look at who could help their team ensure the 3 points are theirs.
Baroka to blank Chiefs?
1) Elvis Chipezeze has made just 6 league appearances this season – but has started Baroka’s previous 3 league fixtures. He is expected to feature between the sticks as his side welcome Kaizer Chiefs. Only TS Galaxy (26) have conceded more than Baroka (23) have during this campaign, however, only 5 of those goals have come at home. Baroka have kept 2 clean sheets in their previous 3 home league fixtures, with the exception being a 1-1 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Royal AM and Macuphu set sights on SuperSport
Mxolisi Macuphu has got 2 goals to show for his 2 Royal AM appearances since making the move from TS Galaxy. Both his goals came last time out, as Royal AM fought back from 2 goals down to rescue a point and more importantly, avoided a 3rd straight away league loss. The number 9 comes up against a Supersport United side that haven’t kept a clean sheet across their previous 6 home league fixtures.

Shonga Shining
Justin Shonga scored on his PSL debut for Sekhukhune United in their 4 nil romp over Baroka – which means that only Mamelodi Sundowns have more victories than them. The former Pirates, TTM and Cape Town City man could make it 2 from 2 as his side squares off against Swallows this weekend. Should he do this, he’ll be just the 2nd player (after Chibuike Ohizu) to have more than 1 league goal to his name for the club.

Arrows must start winning
Golden Arrows have drawn 6 of their 9 away league fixtures. The KZN side need to start converting these draws into wins as they’ve had no problem finding the back of the net. In fact, no club has scored more away goals than Arrows (level with Orlando Pirates and Royal AM on 11 apiece). Michael Gumede (5) currently leads the PSL scoring charts for the club, however, all of his league goals have come on the road. He comes up against a Maritzburg United side that has kept just one clean sheet in their previous 5 home league outings.

Brilliant Billiat
Khama Billiat has bagged three goals in his previous five appearances (across all competitions). The forward is the only Chiefs man to register 10 or more league goal involvements at this stage of the campaign for the Glamour Boys. He will have his work cut out in this one as Chiefs have found the back of the net just seven times in their nine away league fixtures.
