FFOS LAS

Race 4 No11 LIGHTONTHEWING
Trainer: Sue Gardner – Jockey: Lucy Gardner

Bottom weight LIGHTONTHEWING showed he was running into form when troubling the judge for the first time this season at Wincanton. He attracted plenty of support, and is poised to show with a win that those losses were merely lent.

Race 5 No2 SHAMAN DU BERLAIS (Nap)
Trainer: Kerry Lee – Jockey: Mr D J McConville

Confirmed front runner SHAMAN DU BERLAIS gets on well with his amateur pilot and looks sure to take some pegging back on this flat, galloping track that suits his racing style. The Nap fought on tenaciously when pipped by the smart Adrimel at Haydock last month, and this is a lot easier.

Race 6 No2 JAUNTY FREY JA
Trainer: Brian Eckley – Jockey: Miss T Eyston

This trainer does well with his small team of jumpers and JAUNTY FREY JA is a mare with strong credentials, having won and placed in her three races since the turn of the year. She’s picked up a small cheque on her two visits to this course, but is in line for a better pay day here.

HAYDOCK PARK

Race 1 No2 CARTONNE
Trainer: Donald McCain Jnr – Jockey: Brian Hughes

The McCain stable can do little wrong, and though CARTONNE is not easy to win with this looks the right race for him. The front runner put in a career best at Wetherby last time, and can now take the measure of the one-paced Parisencore.

Race 2 No2 SOLDIER OF DESTINY (Nap)
Trainer: Jamie Snowden – Jockey: Gavin Sheehan

A confident vote goes to SOLDIER OF DESTINY, who appeared to blow a great winning chance when making errors at each of the last three fences at Newbury last time. The normally reliable jumper is reunited with a jockey that won on him on his previous start, when making his debut over fences, and can show with a return to winning ways how unlucky he was last time.

Race 6 No1 GODREVY POINT
Trainer: Richard Bandey – Jockey: Harry Bannister

This is a tougher puzzle to solve than first meets the eye, but GODREVY POINT was a game scorer at Hereford after meeting a smart foe in Skytastic at Doncaster. While the assessor has rated him with caution, he’s the most likely of these to run his race.

LUDLOW

Race 3 No3 MIDNIGHT CENTURION (Nap)
Trainer: Jamie Snowden – Jockey: Page Fuller

MIDNIGHT CENTURION underwhelmed when only fourth at Catterick but has been given plenty of time to get over those exertions, when he wasn’t at his best. His earlier run against Geromino at Uttoxeter reads particularly well, and he can bounce back.

Race 4 No2 GUY
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: SAM Twiston-Davies

GUY has had to settle for the runners-up slot on three of his four outings this season including when beaten in a photo at Leicester last time. He’d kept smart company before that near-miss and, now downgraded, should go one better.
