Race 5.

ROCK THE DREAM has finished third in her last two starts, the latest over seven furlongs, just over one and a half lengths behind the winner, despite being bumped at the start and overracing in the early and middle stages. She gets a wideish gate eight, but on the plus side, she will have 1.5kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice. She will also be having her peak run after returning from a 12 week rest and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

CASSIA LANE is seldom far off the action, finishing second last time out over six furlongs, just over two lengths behind the winner. She battled all the way down to the wire that day and from a wider gate ten, she should be doing her best work late.

QUKES had finished second in her two outings prior to ending up in fifth place last time out over seven furlongs, just over five and a half lengths back from the winner. She raced just behind the leaders in that contest and then stayed on well over the closing stages. She on the other hand has a useful draw three and should be involved in the finish.

Race 6.

WINE O’CLOCK has cracked pole position and showed marked improvement to finish a short-head second last time out over 1300M. He finished strongly that day, only to be denied victory in the shadow of the post. If the gelding is able to confirm that last effort, he looks to be the one to side with here.

ZIGGI ROCKS was a tad disappointing when finishing twelfth last time out over 1300M, just over eight lengths adrift of the victor, but he jumped awkwardly and raced three wide the whole way, so that effort is best ignored. From gate three, he will be hoping to bounce back to his better form here.

SCATMAN has won two of his last four outings, the latest over a mile by a neck. He turned second last into the home straight in that contest, but delivered a powerful finish over the latter stages. He has pulled a wide draw ten out of eleven, but will get 4,0 kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice to aid his cause.

Race 7.

SO COUNTRY followed up his penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a second place finish next time out over the same sprint trip, one length behind the winner and the form of that race has stood up well with five runners out of that contest subsequently winning. He showed plenty of toe that day and from gate eight, he should use that early speed to move across without expending too much energy. He returns from a 19 week break, but has had the benefit of a barrier trial.

A 3yr old filly and a 6yr old mare could chase him home, with the slight preference going to AWESOME MISS who also won her penultimate start, but in her case over 1100M and then finished eighth in her latest outing over five furlongs, just under four and a half lengths off the winner, but she did race wide that day. She faces a wide draw sixteen, but she is a speedy sort who should be able to work her way across without using up too much energy. Although DIVI is recorded as finishing eighth last time out over 950M, she was just over two and a half lengths behind the winner. Considering that she had to he held up on the home turn and then checked at the 200M pole, that effort was encouraging. She gets the services of a 1.5kg claiming apprentice and is sure to put her pole position to good use.

Race 8.

With the late scratching of one of his main rivals, the door may have opened for today’s value bet, VAIN RICH to chalk up his second career victory. He had his consistency rewarded with his maiden win by just under two lengths last time out over this c&d. He kicked clear of the opposition at the top of the home stretch that day and then held off the chasing back in the dash down to the line. Notwithstanding a wide gate nine, he could prove hard to topple.

GOBBLED has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three runs, the latest when collared late to end up in second spot last time out over six furlongs, just over a length behind the winner. He faces a wide gate ten, but should use his early gate speed to move across without burning up too much gas.

FIGHT ON SHADES raced just behind the leaders before staying on well to finish third in his latest outing over 1300M, just under half a length back from the victor. He was returning from a 12 week rest that day and whilst having to overcome a wide draw fourteen, he will have 4kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.
