The 96th Comrades Marathon, set to take place on Sunday, June 11, 2023, will feature an impressive participation of 2,354 international runners from 84 countries. Among the nations with the highest representation, India is at the top, with 403 athletes, Zimbabwe with 255, the United Kingdom with 224, the USA with 173, and Brazil with 142 runners.
Race Director of the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA), Rowyn James, expressed satisfaction with the substantial number of international participants, emphasizing the event’s global appeal.
James stated, “We are pleased with the large number of international entrants in this year’s Comrades Marathon. There is no doubt that this is a truly international event. As usual, we offer a very warm South African welcome to athletes and their families from around the world who will be here to share in the spirit and camaraderie of The Ultimate Human Race on Sunday, June 11, 2023.”
The 96th edition of the Comrades Marathon will be a Down Run, commencing at 05:30 from the Pietermaritzburg City Hall and concluding 12 hours later at the Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium in Durban.
