Dolphins toil at St Georges

Kerwin Mungroo bowling - Hollywoodbets Dolphins - Sunfoil Series

The Hollywoodbets Dolphins found themselves under pressure on the first day of the Sunfoil Series clash with the Warriors in Port Elizabeth, after being dismissed for 145 on the normally placid St Georges Park wicket that saw fourteen wickets fall in the opening days play.

After winning the toss skipper Keshav Maharaj elected to bat first, but quickly found his side reeling after Warriors speedster Anrich Nortje accounted for both openers SJ Erwee and Morné van Wyk in the first ten overs.

Vaughn van Jaarsveld steadied the ship with Senuren Muthusamy before off-spinner Simon Harmer rocked the visitors by taking two wickets in three balls.

Harmer went on to claim six for 47 in 22,2 overs to send the Dolphins back to the change room for 145 before tea on Day One.

Muthusamy and Van Jaarsveld both put together forties but the Dolphins couldn’t get meaningful partnerships going against the PE side.

In reply Inland placeman Kerwin Mungroo gave the visitors something to cling to by accounting for opener Matthew Breetzke for four in the fourth over of their innings.

The Dolphins bowlers all contributed as they took four Warriors wickets before the close of play, with Maharaj, Mthozisi Shezi and Robbie Frylinck dismissing key Warrior batsmen to leave them 100 for 4 at stunmps, trailing by 45 runs with six first innings wickets in hand.
