Hollywoodbets signs on as new title sponsor for KwaZulu-Natal’s Dolphins.
The Dolphins, KZN’s beloved provincial cricket team, are currently experiencing a period of transition, with the latest change being the acquisition of a new title sponsor. After months of negotiations, it has been announced that Hollywoodbets has signed on as the team’s title sponsor for the 2016/2017 season. This comes after Sunfoil ends their five-year title sponsorship of the brand.
Hollywoodbets’ relationship with the Dolphins started in the 2015/2016 season when they signed on as the team’s associate sponsor for three years. During this period they came out in full force to support the Dolphins, helping to create a winning atmosphere during games. Throughout the T20 series and the One Day Cup games Hollywoodbets supported their team by bringing cheerleaders, models and entertainers to the games. They also created a dedicated group of Dolphins fans known as the #DolFanArmy who cheered the team on at games around the country!
Devin Heffer, Media & Communications Executive at Hollywoodbets, is thrilled that the company will now be able to play an even bigger role in the Dolphins’ journey going forward. “At Hollywoodbets we have always believed in supporting local sports teams. Until we became involved with the Dolphins we had focussed on supporting developing teams at a grassroots level. However once we had a taste of what it could mean to be involved with a team like the Dolphins we knew we wanted more, so we are proud to announce that we are the first betting company in South Africa to become the title sponsor of a major local sports team! This firmly establishes our position as a pioneer in the local betting industry and, even though this is common practice overseas, we are excited to be the first to bring this concept to South African sport. We intend to keep supporting our team and aim to grow the DolFanArmy, even including fans that are completely new to watching this team sport,” said Heffer.
According to Rajesh Behari, Acting CEO of the Dolphins, they are eager to see what the next season will bring for the Hollywoodbets Dolphins. “We have had a very fruitful partnership with Hollywoodbets over the past year since they signed on as one of our associate sponsors. In just one season they left a telling mark on the Dolphins and the entire cricket landscape in South Africa. We can’t wait to see them build on that foundation, and can only imagine what professionalism and enthusiasm they will bring to the field in future as our new title sponsor,” says Behari.
Heffer is confident that there are great things in store for the team. “Under the new leadership of Coach Grant Morgan, we currently see a team in a rebuilding phase. We believe that this team has the talent to produce the goods and know that we can provide the support to the Dolphins that will help them reach the highest heights,” he said.
The team will be playing their Sunfoil Series match as the Hollywoodbets Dolphins at Buffalo Park in East London against the Warriors from Wednesday the 5th of October till Saturday the 8th of October.
