South Africa vs Australia | First T20I | Sunday 3 September 2023 | Kingsmead, Durban | 18:00

South Africa 31/20 | Tie 25/1 | Australia 52/100

While the hosts were well off the pace South African cricket got a boost with a first full house at Kingsmead for some time.

Batting first South Africa had left about 50-60 runs out on the park on what was still a very good batting surface.

South Africa didn’t have an out when it came to releasing the pressure and their innings looked like a warm-up match.

Their innings never got going and as a result their defence of the target also fell flat and they will need to ramp up the intensity on Sunday.

Australia will be delighted with the clinical way they have taken apart the hosts so far.

Skipper Mitchell Marsh was unbeaten at the end of it all again and is now almost certain to end as the top runscorer in this series.

Nathan Ellis led the attack with aplomb and ensured the Australians got on top early and stayed there.

Adam Zampa was the only real flop in the Australian lineup as he was expensive on his return to the team.

Verdict: Australia

Australia should round off the whitewash.
