Having initially gone unsold in the first round of bidding, top-order batter Rossouw was picked up for R17 million by Punjab Kings in the accelerated round.

Fast bowler Coetzee is set for his maiden stint in the IPL after going to the Mumbai Indians for close to R11 million following a bidding war with Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings.

The 23-year-old was the Proteas’ leading wicket-taker at the World Cup in India with 20 scalps and impressed with passion and his aggressive nature.

Stubbs received a bid from Delhi Capitals for approximately R1.1 million after he was previously on the books of Mumbai Indians.

Burger will also have his first involvement in the IPL after the paceman was picked by the Rajasthan Royals for the same amount as Stubbs.

The left-arm Western Province seamer impressed in just his second ODI for the Proteas against India with figures of 3-30 in 10 overs.

Earlier in the day, Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc beat out his captain and fellow paceman Pat Cummins to become the most expensive player ever sold IPL auction.

Starc has not played in the IPL since 2015 and the left-arm quick’s return to the fray drew a bidding war that ended in an unprecedented bid of R55 million from Kolkata Knight Riders.

Cummins had earlier been picked up by Sunrisers Hyderabad for just under R45 million, with both fees eclipsing what Punjab Kings paid for England all-rounder Sam Curran last year.

Other Proteas internationals Tabraiz Shamsi and Rassie van der Dussen went unsold in the auction.
