There is only one IPL double-header this weekend but the season continues to unfold in an intriguing manner.

There is only one IPL double-header this weekend but the season continues to unfold in an intriguing manner.

IPL Preview

Heading into the fourth weekend three teams have established themselves as frontrunners while the rest are chasing hard.

Saturday 23 April

Knight Riders 82/100 | Tie 25/1 | Titans 1/1 (11:00)

Kolkata Knight Riders are certainly among the teams chasing the front-runners at the moment but they lack consistency.

KKR have won just three of seven matches but the roster they can call on is impressive and they cannot be written off.

Gujarat Titans have made an excellent start to life as an IPL franchise and have found a great leader in Hardik Pandya.

The Titans have arguably been the form team of the competition and victory here will leave them top of the table.

Having only suffered one defeat this season, you simply have to back the Titans at even money.

Royal Challengers 67/100 | Tie 25/1 | Sunrisers 5/4 (16:00)

The Royal Challengers Bangalore should have their hands full with the form team of the IPL at the moment, Sunrisers Hyderabad.

After a slow start the Orange Army have kicked on aided by an incredible streak of toss wins which has seen them chase in six of six matches so far.

If Faf du Plessis can win the toss he might be able to put the Sunrisers under pressure by inserting them first up.

However, RCB might be better suited to batting first even if it is counterintuitive to bat first in the IPL.

The Sunrisers have won all four of their last games. They’re tipped to make it five here.

Sunday 24 April

Super Giants 92/100 | Tie 25/1 | Mumbai Indians 92/100 (16:00)

Lucknow Super Giants have also made a solid start to their time in the IPL powered by the brilliance of KL Rahul.

Mumbai Indians have so far been unable to capture the magic of past campaigns.

The Indians have lost all seven of their matches to date and appear to have made some major missteps at auction.

One of those mistakes was letting Quinton de Kock go and the wicketkeeper batter could return to haunt the Wankhede.

At this point you really have to back whoever it is are playing against the Indians. Get on the Super Giants to pile more misery on the Mumbai franchise.

Monday 25 April

Kings 82/100 | Tie 25/1 | Super Kings 21/20 (16:00)

Despite heading into the weekend as the eighth-placed side, Punjab Kings aren’t far from finding their game.

Chennai Super Kings will hope a win last time out will spark a revival after a poor start to the campaign.

MS Dhoni remains central to CSK’s hopes and has shown that he can still win matches for his beloved franchise.

Rahul Chahar has been the standout bowler for Punjab who have lacked a star batting presence this term with KL Rahul having left the team.

The Super Kings have just started to click a in the IPL and I reckon they can grab their third win of the campaign here.

Tuesday 26 April

Royal Challengers | Tie 25/1 | Royals  (16:00) *betting tba

RCB have to turn around quickly for their crunch match against early favourites Rajasthan Royals.

Jos Buttler has been sublime for the Royals smashing his third IPL ton of the season in his last innings.

Pairing Buttler with young opener Devdutt Padikkal has been a masterstroke that could pay big dividends for India.

After losing the first meeting between these two sides, RCB will be wary of the top order power of the Royals but should also be prepared.

The Royals – powered by Buttler’s heroics – have been sublime this season. Back them to get past the Royal Challengers on Tuesday.
