Hollywoodbets is excited to announce that cricketing legend, Mike Procter has joined as a Brand Ambassador.
The company is proud to be associated with Procter who is a former International cricketer, coach, selector, administrator, commentator and match referee. During his career Procter represented South Africa, KwaZulu-Natal, Western Province, Zimbabwe (then known as Rhodesia) and Gloucestershire.
In a short test-career, Procter played in seven test matches for South Africa, taking 41 wickets and averaging 25 with the bat. In his First-Class career he scored over 21,000 runs, and took 1,417 wickets at an average of 19.17.
When South Africa was welcomed back to International cricket in 1992, this veteran of the game was the first coach to be appointed for the Proteas, and led them to the semi-finals of the 1992 World Cup.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome Mike Procter as our new brand ambassador. Not only was Mike a legend on the field, but he is also a legend off of it,” said Devin Heffer, Brand and Communications Manager for Hollywoodbets.
“An incredibly talented all-rounder, he destroyed top-orders with the ball, and demoralized bowling attacks with the bat. He is considered by most to be one of the greatest all-rounders ever to play the game, and would be considered the Ben Stokes of his era.”
Procter played for many years at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium, and the company looks forward to using his cricket insights and experience to assist with its sponsorship of KZN Cricket, as well as building the game at community level. This new partnership will be a natural extension of Hollywoodbets’ support of cricket at the national, provincial and club levels (Proteas Blind Cricket, Hollywoodbets Dolphins, KZN Coastal and Inland teams, KZN Coastal Women’s Team and the Umlazi Hub), but it will be about much more than just cricket.
“Mike has done incredible work through his foundation for Ottawa Primary School, and with the school being a mere 10 minutes away from Hollywoodbets Support Centre (Head Office), we look forward to backing Mike with our financial and human resources, and the employment of our social media platforms” Said Heffer.
“Through the Mike Procter Foundation, Mike currently assists with the physical education programme at Ottawa Primary School in Verulam, where over 1,100 pupils currently attend. Mike has found great success at the school by using sport as a vehicle to change the children’s lives. It is testament to his humility, that this legend has invested his time and passion into this project with no public recognition, and in the lives of teachers and learners alike, Mike and his small Team are making a massive difference.”
Procter is happy to have joined the purple family.
