The power-hitting of Tim Seifert once again proved the difference between the two sides in their second meeting allowing New Zealand to wrap up the series in Hamilton.

While Pakistan improved they seem to be some way off New Zealand and would do well to get anything at all from the final match.

New Zealand vs Pakistan | Tuesday 22 December 2020 | McLean Park, Napier | 08:00

To Win Match

New Zealand 36/100

Tie 25/1

Pakistan 22/10

New Zealand

Bolstered by their returning stars, the Black Caps went up a gear to clinch the series in match two with a clinical chase set up by excellent bowling.

Kane Williamson’s return shored up a young top-order and leaves the hosts with an imposing batting lineup.

Tim Southee did the damage early on and then Seifert and Kane Williamson finished the game off.

We can expect more rotation from the hosts for the final match of the series with a big squad at their disposal and the trophy already in the bag.

This match will be just the third T20I played at McLean Park in Napier with the hosts having won the first match before losing the second to England in 2019.

Pakistan

Pakistan again fell apart early in the match in the second T20I while the experienced Mohammad Hafeez managed to add some respectability to the scoreline and give his team a slim chance.

Youngsters Haider Ali and Abdullah Shafique haven’t really grasped their opportunities but will need time to prove their worth and adapt to international cricket.

Pakistan’s quicks haven’t been on the money early on like their hosts and as a result, their opponents have played with freedom and their spinners have taken punishment.

The young team have missed inspirational skipper Babar Azam primarily because of the runs he brings to the team.

With only pride and future places in the team to play for Pakistan could also be in for some rotation.

Verdict: New Zealand 36/100

The Black Caps should prove far too good once again. Back them to complete the whitewash.
