The West Indies take a 1-0 series lead into the second match of a weekend doubleheader.

In the Proteas camp, there should be an eagerness to learn from their mistakes in the series opener at the same venue.

To Win Match

West Indies 52/100
Tie 25/1
South Africa 31/20

West Indies

The West Indies earned their first home T20I win over the Proteas in the opening match and would be happy to integrate their returning stars.

With a bevvy of veterans to call on it seems that the West Indies are well placed for the defence of their T20 world title but they could do with the confidence boost derived from quickly putting down the Proteas.

Evin Lewis led their batting charge in the first match, doing most of the work upfront and ensuring the West Indies weren’t under any pressure in the second half of their innings.

With the ball, Fabian Allan got crucial early wickets that derailed the Proteas after a solid start.

South Africa

The Proteas lost their way after the departure of the in-form Quinton de Kock and the team does look like it will rely heavily on the top three to build a score.

Temba Bavuma had a tough job as skipper defending a sub-par score and didn’t get the penetration needed in the powerplay to get back into the game.

The Proteas need to build on the platform laid by their openers with greater efficiency and avoid losing their way through the middle overs.

George Linde as an opening bowler remains a gamble but the Proteas need to give him a chance to settle into the role.

Verdict: West Indies 52/100

The hosts should hang on to their advantage.
