The Proteas fought back to level the series, which will play out entirely on the island of Grenada. While South Africa played to their strength in the second match, the West Indies saw their weaknesses exposed.

West Indies

The West Indies failed to chase down a modest South African total to allow the tourists back into the series.

It might have been a case of overconfidence in the chase by an unchanged and star-studded West Indies team.

Fabian Allan showed his finishing ability despite the West Indies coming up just short, as if this team needed more firepower.

The islanders will want more from star quartet of Andre Russell, Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo and skipper Kieron Pollard.

South Africa

South Africa improved their strong points with Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks giving them a flying start again, last time out but their tendency to fall away remains troublesome.

It remains to be seen if the Proteas can find a way to wedge Aiden Markram into the top order.

Skipper Temba Bavuma showed faith in the same bowlers to get the job done and used them far better than in the first outing.

Kagiso Rabada proved to be the key bowler early on, getting the breakthrough and setting the team up for the win. South Africa will want to continue to pick up early wickets to help them build pressure.

Verdict: West Indies

The Windies are still the team with the edge.
