This year’s Ballon d’Or nominations are out and 30 of the best players in the world stand a chance of winning one of the most sought-after awards in football history.
The award is handed to the player who has performed their absolute best in the previous year and a group of football journalists will vote.
Lionel Messi has won the most awards with five to his name – and his most recent in 2015.
Christiano Ronaldo is the firm favourite to win his fifth title following his 2016 UEFA Champions League and Spanish La Liga titles.
