Belarusian Premier League: GW8 Preview

The Belarus Premier League resumes on Friday with gameweek eight on the menu!

Last weekend fans were treated to 30 goals from eight games. The highest scoring gameweek yet in this season’s Belarusian top division. BATE continued their resurgence in form, easily defeating Neman Grodno to climb up to third.

Torpedo Zhodino were victorious in the seven-goal thriller in Minsk, Valeri Gorbachik chalked up the first hat-trick of the campaign which leaves his team trailing log-leaders Slutsk by two points. Gorodeya left our 10/1 treble in the red after conceding at the stroke of 90 minutes against Rukh. Let’s get to this week’s action and try to cash out.

Friday 8 May

Slutsk 21/20
Draw 23/10
Energetik-BGU 5/2
Slutsk lead the way with 16 points on the board and will be desperate to retain their advantage at the summit by earning their fourth consecutive win in this matchup. Energetik-BGU broke their 287 minutes goal-drought and three-game winless streak in the 2-0 win over struggling Smolevichi last time out. This clash is straight forward, back the hosts at even money.

Gorodeya 31/20
Draw 39/20
Minsk 37/20
Gorodeya’s hot streak seems to be losing some steam. They’re now winless in two games following the defeat against BATE and cruelly dropped two points in the 1-1 draw with Rukh during the last moments of the game. Minsk started on the front foot but conceded five times in their last outing against Torpedo Zhodino, who also hit the woodwork numerous times. With Minsk suffering four defeats in five games, my money is on Gorodeya.

Saturday 2 May

Slavia Mozyr TBA
Draw TBA
Torpedo Zhodino TBA
Slavia Mozyr were fortunate to have their four-game winless run ended thanks to Maksym Slyusar’s double in the last few minutes against Vitebsk. Following two goalless draws, Torpedo Zhodino scored five times last weekend. The visitors are hot on the heels of the leaders, just trailing by two points. The away win is a solid bet.

Neman Grodno 27/20
Draw 39/20
Rukh 43/20
Neman Grodno suffered a 3-1 loss at BATE last week and will be happy to return to home soil where they are unbeaten and have collected seven of their eight points. Rukh kept battling away and earned a point thanks to defender Ilya Kolpachuk’s 90th minute header against Gorodeya. Both sides have scored only 10 goals between them in seven matches. Under 2.5 Goals looks a banker at 4/10.

Sunday 10 May

Isloch 8/10
Draw 9/4
Belshina 36/10
Isloch suffered their worst defeat of the season, a 4-0 hammering at Shakhter. Momo Yansane and company were outclassed by brilliant football and will be eager to get back to winning ways on home soil. Belshina are yet to win a game in the division and need to pull up their socks as they are rooted to the bottom of the log. Take the hosts to demolish the strugglers.

Vitebsk 34/10
Draw 23/10
Shakhter 8/10
Despite overturning a one-goal deficit and taking the lead with two fantastic goals, Vitebsk left last week’s game with no points. The hosts were poor, conceding two goals in the last three minutes of the match. Shakhter were irresistible in their 4-0 trouncing of Isloch and aim to make this match their third consecutive win. My money is on the visitors to claim maximum points.

Smolevichi 9/1
Draw 15/4
BATE 3/10
We’ll keep this encounter short and sweet. Smolevichi are yet to win and their forwards quite frankly looked poor last time out. BATE are bankers at 3/10, but we need to add value. I suggest taking the Yellow-Blues on the (-1) Handicap at 9/10.

Dinamo Brest 13/10
Draw 2/1
Dinamo Minsk 21/10
Dinamo Brest ended their poor run of form by easily beating strugglers Belshina 3-0. The champions have been inconsistent and will be keen to get back to their high standards of performance. Dinamo Minsk’s two-game winning streak was ended by leaders Slutsk in their last outing and will also be aiming to get back to winning ways. Take Both Teams to Score (Yes) at 19/20, a winning bet in the last four meetings.

TREBLE TIPPED @ 5/1
Slutsk Win 21/20
Isloch Win 8/10
Shakhter Win 8/10
