Brockie to Exit SuperSport?

Week 15 Preview

When asked about the possibility of Jeremy Brockie being sold, SuperSport United coach Eric Tinkler said that ‘every player has a price’.

Brockie has been battling for goals of late and has not scored in his last nine games for the Pretoria club, although over the past three years, he has been the most prolific striker in the PSL.

He was heavily linked with a move to Mamelodi Sundowns ahead of the season and has also recently been linked with Orlando Pirates.

Tinkler conceded that he knows about the Brazilians’ interest and although he says no offer has been tabled, he did not rule out the possibility of the New Zealand international making the move across town.

“We’ve heard that Sundowns have had an interest in Brockie for the last six months but as yet we have not received any offer,” Tinkler said.

“No player is not for sale. Every player has a price. You are not going to get me giving players for free, that’s for sure.

“If you are a professional footballer you should know that you are contracted to the club and need to continue working.”

Should Brockie indeed depart, Tinkler says reinforcements will be made, although there won’t be too much time before the January transfer window closes.

“In the event, he leaves then obviously we have to go into the market.

“If we lose one then we need to replace him, it’s as simple as that. We have a 28-man squad, and the minute we lose then we must sign.”
