Trainer Comments:
Visiting Highveld conditioner Robbie Sage recently enjoyed the Gauteng campaign of his dreams and his charge CORAL FEVER was largely instrumental in that. Sage was pleased with his charge’s progress and commented the following, “He is doing very well at present. Everything has gone 100%. It’s going to be a rough race and I think there will be a decent pace. He will arrive in KZN by Thursday evening. Any of the 18 runners can pop up and win the race” were his parting shot.
Jockey Comments:
Muzi Yeni has enjoyed his most successful season to date winning 8 feature races, including two at the highest level, the latest of which was aboard his July ride Coral Fever. Yeni had the following to add regarding his mount, “His prep has gone well but he did take his last victory in the Grade 1 Premier’s Champions Challenge a bit hard. He is very well at the moment and I expect him to fight out the finish. I think there will be a fair pace, not fast or slow and the main dangers are African Night Sky, Abashiri, Do It Again and Yakeen.
Winning Form – Magic Tips Comment:
This five-year old Gauteng visitor has enjoyed his career best season and his Highveld Horse of the Season title is evidence of this. He had a solid spring campaign which culminated in 3rd position in the Summer Cup and though the travel to the Cape took its toll when he performed poorly in the Met, the son of Judpot raised his game on home ground with the aid of blinkers. He ran on smartly to beat Abashiri (0.5kg better off) at the highest level last time and the top weight will prefer the sedate gallop. He must be included from a good draw.
Verdict: Top gelding enjoying his best season to date, still improving, upset potential.
