WESTERN FORCE was running on nicely over 1000m in a strong pinnacle plate last week, finishing 3rd, two lengths behind Caribbean Bay. The son of Western Winter had a good victory in a higher handicap over this c & d in his penultimate start and he should go very close in today’s class. The slight worry is his stable’s moderate form of late.

NEWS FLASH is racing at the top of his game and he ran a great race against far stronger over this trip at the Vaal four weeks ago. He easily beat subsequent winner SIR CECIL over this c & d prior to that and though the Highveld visitor was recently hiked a massive ten pounds, he could have a big say back in the province.
