Race 2: GOLD CHEST (3)
Jockey: Calvin NGCOBO – Trainer: Phillip SMITH
The lightly raced maiden winner GOLD CHEST won a gutsy race over 1400m at this track two weeks ago. It is interesting to note that the form of the penultimate run has been franked with Justash winning twice since. This bodes well for the son of Horse Chestnut who will be cherry-ripe in his third run after a rest.
Race 5: GROOVY NEWS (5)
Jockey: Craig ZACKEY – Trainer: Jannine BORMAN
GROOVY NEWS is holding form and is unbeaten in both runs over this course and distance. The 5yr old bay gelding cracks pole position and could resume winning ways.
Race 8: KINGOFTHEWORLD (2)
Jockey: Craig ZACKEY – Trainer: Corne SPIES
KINGOFTHEWORLD needed his last two starts after a 53 week break. The four-year old bay gelding beat far stronger on the former Vaal sand track over 1000m prior to the rest. He showed top potential earlier on in his career but is obviously plagued with issues. The Var gelding could enjoy racing on this surface and he is well treated at the weights, with the proven sprinters. He has plenty of early speed to overcome his awkward draw.
Race 9: ROYAL VISIONAIRE (4)
Jockey: Muzi YENI – Trainer: Coerie LENSLEY
ROYAL VISIONAIRE was given a good ride from her wide draw over seven furlongs recently but suffered a huge ten pound penalty as a consequence. Nevertheless, the bay filly is a speedy sort who will prefer today’s slight drop in distance and she can produce another solid performance with top jockey Muzi Yeni retaining the ride. The daughter of Visionaire is better drawn and must be respected.
