IPL: Saturday 23 April

Saturday’s IPL double header sees the Dehli Daredevils and Mumbai Indians open up proceedings in Dehli. The hosts come into this one in a decent position having won three of their opening four games. Their opponents, on the other hand, have had a nightmarish start to their campaign only winning two of their first five games.

The second fixture of the day sees the Sunrisers Hydrebad take on a struggling Kings XI Punjab outfit.

Dehli Daredevils 11/10 | Draw 35/1 | Mumbai Indians 7/10
The Daredevils have made amends for their horrid start to the campaign by hammering by the Kolkata Knight Riders. Having been skittled out for 98 in that opening fixture, fans of the Dehli franchise would have been worried that their batting line-up was a bit too weak to compete with the big boys in the competition.

The belligerent Quinton de Kock has disproved this theory, however. The Proteas’ opener has been in scintillating form over the past few months.

He has been the key man for this Daredevils side, racking up runs for fun. The South African currently tops the strike rate stakes at the tournament and his 108 run knock against the Royal Challenges is the highest score made at this year’s tournament.

De Kock isn’t the only member of this Dare Devils squad capable of turning a game on its head with the willow. Carlos Braithwaite, who smashed the Windies to T20 World Cup glory last month, is more than capable of coming in at the back end of an innings and smashing a quick fire 40 or 50.

Both de Kock and Braithwaite are going to need to be at their best this Saturday as Mumbai have a solid bowling attack that features dangerous spinners in the form of Harbhajan Singh and Krunal Pandya.

Verdict: Quinton de Kock to Top Score for Delhi at 2/1
This market offers fantastic value especially with our Top Scorer Promotion on the go. De Kock has been in all-conquering form and I reckon he could well end up the Dare Devils top scorer again this Saturday.

Sunrisers Hyderabad 6/10 | Draw 35/1 | Kings XI Punjab 27/20
The second fixture of the day will see the fourth placed Sunrisers Hyderabad take on a Kings XI side in disarray.

The hosts have been in decent nick thus far, winning two of their opening four games. Key to their reasonable start has been the form of Aussie opener Dave Warner. The hard-hitting left-hander has been at his belligerent best.

He’s the tournament’s current top scorer having racked up a massive 235 runs in his four innings. If he gets going this Saturday then the Kings XI bowlers could be in for an awfully long evening.

The visitors are going to need their bowlers to come to the party if they have any chance of winning this one. Kyle Abbott and Micthell Johson are capable of rattling any top order but they are yet to produce at this year’s tournament. The duo will be tasked with getting rid of the dangerous Sunrisers openers. If they can send Warner and Rahane back to the pavilion within the first five overs then they may be in with a shout of restricting their opponents scoring.

Verdict: Dave Warner To Top Sore for the Sunrisers at 2/1

Warner has been a class above and I reckon he’s got another big score in him this weekend.
