IRB Under 20 Championship: Best of the Rest Preview

Under 20 Junior Championship Logo Header With Link to Hollywoodbets' 2016 Junior Rugby Championship Semi-Fina Preview

The group phase of the Under 20 Championship may be done and dusted but there’s still pride and place positions to play. While England, South Africa, Argentina, and Ireland will duke it out for a place in the semi-finals, the likes of New Zealand, Australia, France and Japan will be looking to achieve the highest possible finishes they can when they take to the field later today.

We’re going to keep the analysis and tips short and sweet for these games.

16:15 (CAT) Kick Off
Today’s two early kick-offs see Georgia take on Italy and New Zealand square off with Wales. These two fixtures may well be affected by the weather conditions with a 53 percent chance of rain being predicted for between four and five O’clock this afternoon.

The tournament has seen 16 out 18 plus handicaps arrive but I doubt we’ll see one here. Back the Italians on the straight win at 6/10.

Despite poor weather conditions being forecast and the Junior Blacks recent struggles in the rain, I still reckon they’ll have enough to clear a -10.5 handicap against the Welsh.

18:30 (CAT) Kick Off
The next fixture of the day, that doesn’t involve one of the teams in the semi-finals, will see France take on Japan. The Blossoms have put in some brilliant shifts during the first half of their games but have struggled during the second stanza. They actually faced off with the French during the group phase of the tournament and managed to keep their opponents half-time lead down to a meagre ten points.

The youngsters from Japan would end up going 46 points to 14 which is a much higher losing margin than the 25.5 plus handicap that is currently available. With the aforementioned statistic in mind, I recommend backing the French to clear the -25.5 handicap at 9/10.

20:45 (CAT) Kick Off
The final game that’ll we’ll take a look at in this shortened preview is the match between Scotland and Australia. The two sides met in the group phase of the tournament with the Scots taking advantage of Queensland Reds youngster Campbell Magnay’s ill-discipline.

Magnay received a yellow card in the first half of the game and was sent for an early shower when he picked up a second yellow early on in the second half. The Scots took full advantage of their numerical advantage and went on to win the game by five points.

Young Scottish ten Adam Hastings has really impressed me. His astute kicking tactical kicking game could well see the Scots do the double of the young Wallabies. Scotland on the straight win is currently available at 3/1 which is a brilliant price for those who don’t mind taking a bit of a risk.

Multiple for the Day

While I’ll be toying around with a bit of the In-Running stuff and a few single match bets, my biggest bet of the day will be on staked on this multiple:

Scotland +9.5 (9/10)
New Zealand (-10.5) 9/10
France (-25.5) 9/10

It equates to 533/100 which is well worth a punt especially when you consider a 30 Rand stake could net you a payout of 159.95 Rand.
