Details of Sales’ contract are not yet confirmed by the club but the 22-year-old has put pen to paper on a long-term deal. Sales was signed from Belgian top flight outfit Lommel SK.

Sales is expected to compete with veteran striker Peter Shalulile for a starting berth at Chloorkop, as the Namibian forward had a season to forget in the 2013/24 term.

Shalulile netted nine goals in the DStv Premiership, a far cry from the 23 he scored in the 2021/22 season, and a dozen strikes in the 2022/23 campaign which earned him a record breaking third Golden Boot award.

The Brazilian is Sundowns’ second signing in this transfer window, with Kobamelo Kodisang being the other acquisition. Meanwhile, Kegan Johannes is reported to have jumped ship from crosstown rivals SuperSport United, but the club are yet to conform his move.

Johannes’ move to the Brazilians sees Bafana Bafana internationals Ricardo Goss and Nyiko Mobbie used a sweetener to lure the defender to Chloorkop.

Meanwhile, the former Vasco player is expected to link up with his new teammates in Austria where Downs are holding their pre-season camp. Masandawana played friendlies games against Ukraine side Dynamo Kyiv and German outfit Sandhausen.

Downs lost both matches with 1-0 and 2-1 scorelines respectively. The Manqoba Mngqithi and Steve Komphela-led Sundowns will take on English Championship side Cardiff City on Tuesday, July 23.
