Hollywoodbets KZN Inland have qualified for the semi-finals of the 2017 Africa T20 Cup. Their victories over Zimbabwe and Border will now see them play Gauteng in the semi-finals.

Hollywoodbets KZN Inland were on top of Pool D table going into play on Sunday, after they defeated Zimbabwe by 3 wickets on Friday.

Boland’s match against Border on Friday was washed out, as well as both games on Saturday. This left everything to play for on Sunday.

Hollywoodbets KZN Inland needed victory in their final Pool D match against Border, after Boland defeated Zimbabwe with a bonus point in Sunday morning’s encounter.

Inland won the toss and decided to field. Border were waning at 70/5 at the halfway mark in their innings, before Jerry Nqolo struck a blistering 61 off 39 balls.

Border would finish their innings on 164/7 after 20 overs. Attie Mposa led the Inland bowling attack, finishing with 4/34 from his 4 overs.

Sarel Erwee got Inland off to the best possible start, eventually hauling out on 65 from 41 balls. He put on 67 for the 2nd wicket with Grant Roelofsen, with the latter being later dismissed for 34 off 34 balls.

Tight bowling from the Border side, including the use of eight different bowlers, left the Inland team needing 28 from the last 3 overs. Enter Gareth Dukes.

The tall Inland all-rounder blasted his way to 23 off 6 balls, finishing the game with a massive six over long-off, and winning it for Hollywoodbets KZN Inland with an over to spare.

A much deserved win for the team from Pietermaritzburg, whose hard-work and dedication in the build up to this tournament have earned them a place in the Africa T20 Cup semi-finals.

Inland will now face Gauteng in the first semi-final, while Namibia take on Free State in the second semi-final. Both games will take place in Kimberley on Sunday 24th September, with the final taking place the following day.
