Magic Tips – PREVIEW
The brilliant entire’ FUTURA aims to follow in the footsteps of the great Pocket Power as he bids to go back-to-back in the country’s premier mile contest. The son of Dynasty had a brilliant 2015 with three Grade 1 wins and he probably just needed his comeback run behind CAPTAIN AMERICA on the winter track over this c & d, seven weeks ago. That form has already been franked and the five-year old will be much fitter and has an obvious affinity for this summer course. His excellent turn of foot, coupled with a top draw are huge advantages in a race that could be void of a strong gallop and the favourite could take a power of beating.
Last year’s arch-rival and then favourite, LEGISLATE has been sparingly raced since that disappointment but he showed his prowess with a Grade 1 mile victory in KZN over a field that included the top rating. He hasn’t raced since reportedly not striding out when tiring late to be beaten just under three lengths by the top selection on the first day of this season. This year the pair are representing the same team and this other son of Dynasty could attempt to make all the running with master tactician Piere Strydom engaged. They should fight out another titanic duel.
