Opinion: Au revoir Arsene! Who do the Gunners turn to next!?

With Arsene Wenger Stepping down from Arsenal’s hot seat, let’s take a look at five managers who are likely to replace the French tactician!

It’s a bittersweet kind of a day for Arsenal fans with the French boss, Arsene Wenger, finally stepping down after nearly 22 years with the Gunners.

The 68-year-old has guided Arsenal to three Premier League titles – including the unbeaten run with the ‘invincibles’ in the 2003–04 season – and seven FA Cups. The UEFA Champions League has always eluded Wenger but the Frenchman will be determined to go out with a bang and hopefully get his hands on some European silverware with Arsenal still in the hunt for the Europa League!

Arsenal fans have been torn in two for quite some time now with many calling for the axe, while some remain faithful to the boss, remembering the glory days. However, with Wenger finally calling time on his time with the Gunners, let’s take a look at a few candidates who could replace the Frenchman.

Brendan Rodgers (3/1)
Believe it or not, Brendan Rodgers is one of the early favourites for the hot seat. The Northern Irish manager made a name for himself at Swansea before moving to Liverpool and then Celtic. He has done well with the Scottish giants but should he move to Arsenal, I have no doubt there will be many upset Gunners fans, including myself. I just don’t think he has the calibre fit for a club like the Gunners – definitely a step back in my opinion.

Carlo Ancelotti (5/1)
Another high-profile and quality manager on the list for the job is Carlo Ancelotti! The Italian manager has won an impressive three UEFA Champions League titles, something Arsenal FC would love to have in their trophy cabinet! Besides his success in Europe, Ancelotti knows how to make his teams tick! He might bring about a different style of football Arsenal fans aren’t used to, but maybe that’s something the club might need.

Thomas Tuchel (6/1)
Thomas Tuchel, who has been out of a job since he left Borussia Dortmund in 2017, looks a strong candidate to take over. However, a lack of trophies for the German manager doesn’t bode well for a club like Arsenal, who have suffered a Premier League drought for over a decade – something the board will definitely take into consideration.

Joachim Low (8/1)
The prospect of having Joachim Low take charge of Arsenal excites me! He is currently in charge of the German national team, where he has earned plenty of applauds for the excellent job he has done, including guiding Die Mannschaft to the 2014 FIFA World Cup triumph! The German is also well known for putting his hands down his pants and sniffing his hands after but should he make his way to Arsenal, the Gunners fans will sure be smelling silverware!

Luis Enrique 10/1)
Luis Enrique’s name has also been whispered with the former Barcelona manager jobless like Thomas Tuchel since 2017. The Spaniard showed what he is capable of, after leading the Catalan giants to six titles in three seasons, including a treble in his first year at the helm. Enrique’s possession-based football will attract Arsenal who play the same game! However, the Spanish manager had many more luxury players at Barcelona and might just find the going tough in England. Nonetheless, he has the quality and mindset to deal with the trouble the Premier League brings.

There you have it, folks! Five managers who have a good chance of replacing Wenger. If you would like to take a look at the betting for the next Arsenal boss, Hollywoodbets have it on offer! Check it out here!
