Opinion Piece: Three NFL Quarterbacks to Watch

We take a look at three quarterbacks to watch ahead of the upcoming NFL season.

The 2017/2018 NFL Season will commence on 7 September amid all of the fanfare one could expect from the biggest sporting event in the USA. Defending champions, the New England Patriots stole victory at the death when they beat the Atlanta Falcons in overtime.

We take a look at one of the most glorified positions in the NFL game, the Quarterback. The leader of the offensive team and the playmaker-in-chief for his side. QB’s can both single-handedly win teams NFL titles or send them crashing out of contention for the coveted title.

Profile
The Green Bay Packers Quaterback has been dubbed one of the best QB’s of last season. His greatest asset is arguably his impressive throw accuracy even while running to his left or right. His massive hail mary throws have won the Packers a number of matches since 2005 when he was drafted into the side. He’s a formidable presence in the side with over 36 000 yards thrown and a passer rating of 104.

Starting his career in 2005, he’s made a name for himself, winning a Super Bowl ring, and an MVP award. Rodgers will look to bring his team closer to another title at a tasty 5/1.

Profile
One of the league’s more well-rounded quarter backs, his great accuracy on the snap, and his offensive running game combined with his expansive passing skills make him one of the Panther’s most valuable assets. A decorated player with most notable awards such as the NFL MVP, and Offensive Player of the Year (2015),  and a three-time Pro Bowl winner in 2011, 2013, and 2015 respectively.

A cracking player who still has time on his side at the age of 29. He’s been a one franchise so far in his career and would dearly love to lead the Panthers to their first Super Bowl appearance since 2004.

3. Tom Brady: New England Patriots

Profile
Tom Brady claimed his fifth career Super Bowl title last term with the New England Patriots. He’s also claimed the NFL’s MVP award in four of those wins. Logic dictates that Brady should have retired long ago. The 40-year-old defies all logic, however, as he continues to churn out world class performances even on the wrong side of 40. The California native’s key attributes range from pinpoint passing and excellent judgment of the game to his ability to take the attack to the opposition almost on his own.

Brady will go down in the history books, and he’ll certainly attempt one more Sup Bowl Championship ahead of his proposed lack of retirement plans.

Prepare for all the hits, touchdowns, snaps, and grit that kick off 7 September.
