The end of a spectacular era came to an end, as Usain Bolt finished third in his last race before hanging up his spikes.

The race ended in favour of Americans, veteran 35 year old Justin Gatlin, and 21- year old Christian Coleman. Gatlin sneaked in from lane seven to claim the gold medal, while Coleman who had a blistering start won the silver medal, it was a photo finish with Bolt winning the bronze.

Jamaican Yohan Blake and South African Akane Simbine finished fourth and fifth respectively.

The world bids farewell to an icon and one of the most successful athletes of all time, Usain Bolt.
