Week 21 Preview

SuperSport United striker Evans Rusike admitted that he still dreams of playing in Europe, having aimed for a move abroad before the Premiership club signed him.

Rusike was recruited from Maritzburg United in January as a replacement for Jeremy Brockie, but revealed he had not been expecting the move.

The Zimbabwean was not aiming at a specific league or club, but had firmly set his sights on working hard to turn heads overseas. However, things changed in the January transfer window.

“It’s been good [at SuperSport], but it came as a shock. I was expecting a move to happen at the end of the season for me, but I am happy with the move,” Rusike told KickOff.
“My focus going into the current season was to work hard and then wait to see what move will come. I was thinking of Europe.
“Then I heard SuperSport want my services. They are a big team and they have won things. I said I could fit into the team and I decided to join them.”

However, a move to Europe is not entirely off the cards now for the 23-year-old, who said: “I still have that dream. Joining SuperSport has put me on another level. They have played in the CAF Confederation Cup and they went to the final. So I believe I still have a chance to make a move in future.”
