South African Indoor hockey is on the verge of getting a huge boost after SA Hockey announced that they are set to collaborate with Pro Series Indoor for the inaugural Kathea Energy Nkosi Cup.

The tournament is considered a tri-nation tournament with a pool stage followed by a gripping final. The tournament is scheduled to take place in December each year.

Simon Martin, CEO of PSI, expressed his delight in bringing this tournament to SA.

“I firmly believe indoor hockey has found its home in South Africa. The success of the Indoor Hockey World Cup showcased our capability”, said Simon.

The men’s division has two World Cup quarter-finalists in South Africa and Nambia plus one semi-finalist in the USA. On the other hand, in the women’s division Ireland, Nambia and the reigning Tuanku Zara Cup champions plus World Cup semi-finalists South Africa.

Shaun Baaitjies, interim CEO of SA Hockey is relieved that SA can host yet another tournament on our shores.

“Our nation boasts a rich history of successfully hosting events. Following the remarkable feat of hosting the Indoor World Cup on short notice, we anticipate the Nkosi Cup to further elevate the profile of Indoor Hockey”, said Shaune.

Tickets for the tournament will be available through the SA Hockey Fan App.
