Race 6

TYCOONIST showed solid improvement last time out to finish third when stepping up to seven furlongs, just one length behind the winner. He was crowded at the 200M mark that day and then only saw daylight at the 100M pole before finishing his race off well. He gets a handy draw two and with better luck in running today, he could prove to be the one that they all have to beat.

PAPAL WARRIOR has finished second in his last two runs, the latest over seven furlongs where he finished strongly only to be denied victory by a short-head. He attracted plenty of betting support that day and from one gate outside the top choice, he will be looking to make amends here.

ROYAL BANQUET had to be steadied off the heels of other runners at the 600M mark before ending up in seventh place last time out over six furlongs, just over four and a half lengths back from the winner. He was returning from a lengthy 43-week break that day and from gate seven, he should not be lightly dismissed in this line-up.

Race 7

The day’s value bet, YONKERS has solid staying form to his name, having won two out of his last three starts over this trip and finishing second in the other. He won his last outing by a head when finishing well and despite facing a wideish draw eight, he seems sure to turn in another honest performance here.

STOCKMAN on the other hand has cracked pole position and is seldom far off the action, finishing third last time out over twelve furlongs, two lengths adrift of the victor and the form of that race has been franked. He had to be checked at the 500M mark that day but recovered well to make good late progress in the latter stages of the contest. Given a trouble-free run here, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

APPROACH DISCREET has finished third in his last two outings and was crowed at the 300M pole when just over a length and a half back from the winner over nine furlongs. He battled all the way down to the wire that day and from gate five, he should make his presence felt in this field.

Race 8

With the late scratching of one of her main rivals, the door may have opened for today’s best bet, KATALIN to chalk up her fourth career victory. She kicked clear at the 150M mark in her last start over 1300M and from that point the result was never in doubt, eventually winning by some three lengths. She was returning from a lengthy 62-week absence that day as a result of a pelvic fracture and the fact that her connections have brought her back into racing after such a lengthy absence would seem to suggest that they believed that she still had something more to offer them, which she certainly proved that day.

BELLUCI BABE has consistent formlines to her name, finishing third in her last two runs, the latest over 1100M, just under a half-length back from the winner. She will have to negotiate draw thirteen, but she should be doing her best work late. She could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice.

INVINCIANO has not fared too much better with her draw, having gate eleven, but she followed up her penultimate run victory over a mile with a fourth-place finish next time out over 1300M, just one length off the winner when friendless in the betting markets. She should be involved in the finish here.

Race 9

WAIRERE FALLS had to be held up entering the home straight before finishing well to just fail by a short-head to collar the winner last time out over 1500M. He has pulled a handy gate three and has his peak run here after returning from an 18-week rest.

OSCAR ZULU had his consistency rewarded with a 0.8L victory last time out over seven furlongs. He came three-wide into the home stretch that day, but struck the front at the 250M mark and then held off all the late challengers over the latter stages. He faces a wide draw thirteen, but he should be doing his best work late.

STEELY also has consistent formlines to his credit and although recorded as finishing fourth in his latest outing over 1500m, he was just a neck adrift of the winner. He stayed on well that day and should be included in all bets.
